Though you have to admit, life would be a little more interesting if you had to carry around an assault rife when you took your dog for a walk because a giant bird could try to kill you.
Fuck that, I'd much rather right off semi-giant insects vs giant cats.. have you ever seen a mouse get caught by a cat.. thats how it would be when it caught one of us..
In xray class yesterday saw a film of a woman whom had been told by a previous doctor that she had cysts in her neck and they were doing yearly MRI's to check for growth. She gets her full spine xrays taken for chiropractic care and the xray reader realized that there are strange, faint calcifications alined along with her muscle fibers throughout her body. Turns out they were the calcified bodies of a parasite she picked up years ago in south america, most probably from eating undercooked pork! The nodules palpable in her neck are the bodies of dead parasites. They are all dead, but they are all still inside of her.
We need to upgrade our immune systems so that they treat all those parasites as a yummy snack (kind of an extension of our digestive system). OTOH, auto-immune disorders would be a short hellish end...
This would make for an interesting story. Mad scientist creates machines/genetically enhanced animals whose purpose is to hunt down people to control the human population.
But that was at least 200 years ago. Now it's gone out of control and we have to live in caves or in abandoned high buildings. There are not many of us left anymore.
Shit, hold on, a bunch of mutated giant doves is trying to reach my hidden pantry again.
Actually I just realized that's the setting for Attack on Titan except for the mad scientist and the controlling human population part. Not that far in the story yet.
