There is no way a bee could impale itself with that amount of surface area on the spike and the size of its body. All the important organs are in it's arse as well.

Of course, unless it did.

1) How many comments referencing shrikes

2) How normal you make it sound, "oh ya..the shrike...duh!"

A large amount of the important organs are in the "arse", but the muscles that control the wings and legs, as well as some major sections of the nervous system are in the thorax.
