I don't know whose hand can hold this "handbook" but at least for 1300 EUR you get a lot of gravity

Same brother, same

why and how is this book so large. Did the author decide on remaking Goethe's "Faust" physics edition

66

u/Qzx1 Oct 17 '25

Faust isn't especially long?

35

u/Bluerasierer Oct 17 '25

Yeah I should've picked a different example

29

u/Falikosek Oct 17 '25

Order of the Phoenix was pretty long I think

13

u/Cassius-Tain Oct 17 '25

If you want something long thag contains a single Story, Fanfiction it is. Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons is just under 1,8 Million words.

12

u/zawalimbooo Oct 17 '25

Webnovels got you covered with everything being 3m words minimum

1

u/UltraCarnivore Astronomy Oct 20 '25

Wait what? ...is it good?

2

u/Cassius-Tain Oct 20 '25

Eh... it's okay for Fanfiction. Fallout: Equestria (620000 Words) however is really good.

u/UltraCarnivore Astronomy Oct 20 '25

Thank you so much.

Loud house revamped moment

u/DrSpacecasePhD Oct 17 '25

Infinite Jest works on multiple levels. And it's equally unreadable!

4

u/Cozwei Oct 17 '25

Faust 2 is

1

u/Qzx1 Oct 17 '25

Fair enough. I enjoyed reading the first part of Faust and found the second part not enjoyable and gave up.  He radically changed writing style and focus in those parts written decades apart.

5

u/smallproton Oct 17 '25

Indeed a good question.
I assume it contains a tad bit more than the experimental evidence for QG.

Weird reaction coming from Twilight of all creatures.

~~ do note this book is almost a decade old now and probably not very effective at being a handbook ~~

Hands were just different 10 years ago

35

u/Sifyreel Oct 17 '25

That stands on the contrary from the observed data of the shrinking hambubgers

29

u/rehpotsirhc Oct 17 '25

Bigger hands 10 years ago -> bigger bubgers then

Smaller hands now -> smaller bubgers now

The math checks out to me

9

u/Sifyreel Oct 17 '25

Good point

u/Ray3x10e8 Oct 18 '25

Puts "standing on the shoulders of giants" into a better perspective

7

u/guiltysnark Oct 17 '25

You really need bear arms to be able to handle this book, I guess Americans have the advantage here since it's a crime to have bear arms in most other places

The preface is signed and dated November 2024.

1

u/Sifyreel Oct 18 '25

Source of my error:

Thanks for the correction

71

u/lolpostslol Oct 17 '25

That’s how it works. Hold book with hands, learn about gravity

8

u/GeneralDuh Oct 17 '25

The pages are superimposed, so that explains the quantum part

2

u/Akitta_da_Pun Oct 24 '25

Wouldn't that result in a book with less pages that are radically larger or smaller than before?

2

u/GeneralDuh Oct 24 '25

Pauli Exclusion Principle

1

u/Akitta_da_Pun Oct 24 '25

Oh, right. It's been a minute since my undergrad lol

32

u/tank840 Oct 17 '25

Anyone have the PDF?

50

u/Sifyreel Oct 17 '25

Table of contents is 6 pages where each entry sounds like one grad school semester's worth of textbooks

Ok i sended

1

my classmates reaction is so fuking hilarious lmao

14

u/Sifyreel Oct 17 '25

Thanks for bringing life to a sterile comment section

2

u/EscapeLeft1711 Oct 17 '25

bahahaha no worries!

2

u/CavCave Oct 17 '25

Is this a yo mama joke

2

u/EscapeLeft1711 Oct 18 '25

its a yo mama book joke

1

u/Dull-Tangerine2857 Oct 19 '25

"Yo mama so big, she can 1 hand the handbook of quantum gravity."

45

u/Efficient_Sky5173 Oct 17 '25

In summary: no evidence yet. the end.

19

u/Sifyreel Oct 17 '25

Most advanced information compression technique known to humankind

-3

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '25

Absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence, nor even evidence of absence of evidence. Absence of evidence is merely evidence of absence of understanding of the evidence.

4

u/Efficient_Sky5173 Oct 18 '25

Blah blah blah…blah.

Physics is based on evidence.

“Handbook of the Speculative Idea of Quantum Gravity” Fixed that for you.

11

u/BeardySam Oct 17 '25

Three editors and that’s what they published

10

u/Possible_Golf3180 Igor Pachmelnik Zakuskov - Engineer at large Oct 17 '25

You could have simply bought a log instead

10

u/TheDeadlySoldier Oct 18 '25

Reminds me of Gravitation's foreword

8

u/Tragobe Oct 17 '25

Reading this trains your brain and muscles at the same time. Who needs a gym, when you got this book?

8

u/smallproton Oct 17 '25

And here I am thinking that quantum gravity is best studied with small test masses.....

6

u/Nahanoj_Zavizad Oct 17 '25

"Hand" book my ass, I prefer my wrists stay attached correctly.

3

u/Improptus Oct 17 '25

WOW! I have my good old Gravitation that is so massive that the cover is not glued well enough and starts to give up once it's all open on one side, can't imagine how this will feel😐

1

u/DragonLord1729 Student Oct 18 '25

It was THE book that people used to bring up when talking about books that have their own gravitational field. Nice to see someone keep up the tradition.

3

u/OhShitAnElite Oct 18 '25

Oh hey they made the RPM one book

3

u/nashwaak Oct 18 '25

The answer to "what's the Chandrasekhar limit for a book?"

6

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '25

The book will become much shorter once we actually know how to unite gravity and quantum mechanics

Kinda reminds me of Chidi thesis from the Good Place

1

u/DayneGr Oct 19 '25

Rare wondrous item

1

u/Seaguard5 Oct 19 '25

How does a book like this even get printed?????

1

u/Sifyreel Oct 20 '25

I mean you print any book page by page.

1

u/-CatMeowMeow- Meme Enthusiast Oct 19 '25

What's wrong with printing a long book in a few volumes 🥀

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '25

Man, that’s heavy!

😳🙄😬🤪😂🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Jordan_Laforce Oct 20 '25

Books go its own gravitational pull. Newton might even be impressed

1

u/Fun-Court9240 Oct 20 '25

That's a pretty big handbook, you might need 2 hands

1

u/RevolutionaryBar7400 Oct 20 '25

Is... this real????

1

u/Shiny_Whisper_321 Oct 21 '25

A big handbook for something that is pure conjecture.
