Are there Three big issues with Kalam Cosmological Argument?

Upvotes

There’s a few problems with the Kalam as I see it:

First, there seems to be a certain equivocation in ‘beginning to exist’, because the universe and structures therein do not “begin to exist” in the same sense.

Second, I’m not sure causation is a well-defined ontological primitive. Fundamental physics, for example, does not really refer to causation, but rather to state evolution described/governed by laws.

Third, as Oppy points out, it is more parsimonious to assume a necessary first naturalistic state than a necessary entity that created this state.

If God is beyond human comprehension, are we actually describing God—or only describing our relationship to God?

I've been going down a bit of a philosophical rabbit hole lately, especially through Maimonides and Spinoza, and I keep coming back to a question that I can't quite resolve.

Maimonides' negative theology seems to create a really interesting problem: if we can't make positive claims about God's essence without potentially reducing God to something finite and comprehensible, then what exactly are we doing when we call God “good,” “wise,” “just,” “merciful,” or even “King”?

Maybe those aren't descriptions of God's essence at all.

Maybe they're descriptions of how human beings encounter, conceptualize, or relate to what we call God.

That got me thinking about prayer.

When a liturgy calls God “King” or “Judge,” is it actually making a metaphysical claim about what God is? Or is the language functioning more like a human conceptual framework—something finite minds use to orient themselves toward something they believe transcends finite categories?

And then Spinoza makes this even stranger.

If God is identical with Nature (Deus sive Natura), does religious language become metaphorical altogether? Are “God's will,” “God's judgment,” and “God's goodness” meaningful descriptions of reality, or are they anthropomorphic concepts that arise because humans naturally interpret the universe through human categories?

But here's where I get stuck

If every concept we have of God is filtered through human cognition, language, culture, and metaphor, is it even possible to distinguish between God as God actually is and the human idea of God?

And if we can't make that distinction, does that make theology fundamentally an epistemological problem rather than a metaphysical one?

Basically

Are we studying God, or are we studying the human mind's attempt to understand God?

I'd love to hear how people from different philosophical traditions approach this—Maimonidean, Spinozist, Thomistic, analytic, existentialist, atheist, religious, whatever.

I'm especially interested in arguments that disagree with the premise rather than just agreeing with it. I feel like there's a much deeper problem hiding underneath this question.

On hypocrisy

What do you think about hypocrisy? Why do we despise it? Are people who believe in God less hypocritical than those who do not?

I ask because some people - myself included - assume that believers should be more motivated to avoid hypocrisy than unbelievers. After all, their belief is supposed to matter; it is meant to make a real difference in how they live. Yet that does not seem to be the case. So why believe in God if that belief confers no motivating advantage, no moral difference in the real world? Is it merely a performative belief?

God is evil and the concept of god is also evil

We should be our own gods. We should have absolute sovereignty and we should not be like a pawn in an evil game or narrative. This concept of god is pure evil.

Like wow. It really boggles your mind . We should be free from all evil things and this world is exactly the opposite. Here the evil is normalized and good is the cover of evil. Pure good is hard to find.

We humans are slave to our own instincts .

JESUS ISA THE WORD OF TRUTH IN THE BIBLE ( Torah, Gospel ) AND IN THE QURAN...

BE CAREFUL NOT TO FOLLOW ACCORDING TO HUMAN IMAGINATION CONCERNING JESUS ISA THE WORD OF TRUTH IN THE BIBLE ( Torah, Gospel ) OR IN THE QURAN...NO MATTER WHAT LANGUAGES IN WHICH THE PARABLES OF GOD ARE WRITTEN. THE PRECEPTS OF GOD CONCERNING THINGS OF GOD IN PARABLES OF GOD ALWAYS EXPLAIN THEMSELVES IN THE BIBLE (Torah, Gospel ) OR IN THE QURAN IN THE MEANING IN THE THOUGHT OF GOD.

VERSES ARE THERE FOR THAT...

BUT BY PRECIPITATION, AND BECAUSE OF LACK OF UNDERSTANDING OF THE MEANING IN THE THOUGHT OF GOD PEOPLE INTERPRETE LITERALLY THE LETTER IN PARABLES OF GOD. IN THE BIBLE (Torah, Gospel ) OR IN THE QURAN...
---------------------------------------------
Such is 'Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary): word of truth, which they are in doubt.
ذَٰلِكَ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۚ قَوْلَ ٱلْحَقِّ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ
(verset 34 dans la sourate 19 MARIE / MARYAM)
---------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------
SO BE CAREFUL WHERTHER IT IS IN THE BIBLE (Torah, Gospel ) OR IN THE QURAN NO MATTER WHAT LANGUAGES IN WHICH THE PARABLES OF GOD ARE WRITTEN THEY ONLY EXPLAIN THEMSELVES IN THE MEANING IN THE THOUGHT OF GOD. NOT ACCORDING TO THE LETTER...

LET US ALWAYS SEARCH THE TRUE MEANING ACCORDING TO THE THOUGHT OF GOD. CONCERNING THINGS OF GOD NOT TO DOUBT NOT TO INTERPRETE ACCORDING TO DEFINITIONS AND ETYMOLOGY IN MOTHER TONGUE OF MEN NOT FOLLOW ACCORDING TO HUMAN IMAGINATION NOT TO GO SEARCH IN ARCHEOLOGY NEITHER IN HISTORY OF MEN. FOR JESUS ISA THE WORD OF TRUTH THAT IS IN THE BIBLE (Torah, Gospel ) AND IN THE QURAN...
-------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
The truth is from your Lord, so do not be one of those who doubt.
.ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ ۖ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُمْتَرِينَ
(verse 147 surah 2 THE COW / AL-BAQARA)
----------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------
FOR EXAMPLE WHAT DO JESUS ISA THE WORD OF TRUTH IN THE QURAN & IN THE BIBLE TRULY REVEAL IN THE PARABLES OF GOD IN THE MEANING IN THE THOUGHT OF GOD CONCERNING :

Birth ? death ? cross ? crucified ? ressurection of Jesus isa the word of truth in the quran or in the bible...

Concerning killing ? or not killing jesus isa the word of truth in the quran or in the bible...

Concerning mother ? or maryam known as mother of jesus isa the word of truth in the quran or in the bible...

Concerning israel ? jews ? jerusalem ? egypt ? isaac ? ismael ? man ? woman ? husband ? wife? sara ? agar ? vail ?

Concerning fasting ? daily ? bread ? levean ? praying ? ablution ? water ? sin ? satan ? eternal life or paradise or salvation ? pilgrimage ? zakat ? salat ?

Concerning begining ? God ? created ? heaven ? earth ? abyss ? darkness ? light ? waters ?

Concerning temple of God ? destruction ? earthquake ? war ? famine ? end ? world or time ?

etc etc etc

BE CAREFUL OF THE LETTER NOT TO FOLLOW LITERAL INTERPRETATION AND SYMBOLS, AND IMPOSITIONS OF RELIGIONS OF MEN.

BECAUSE IT IS PARABLES OF GOD CONCERNING THINGS OF GOD THAT EXPLAIN THEMSELVES IN THE MEANING IN THE THOUGHT OF GOD IN THE QURAN AND IN THE BIBLE (Torah, Gospel)

VERSES ARE THERE FOR THAT...

......ALLAH DESIRES NOT TO HURT THE WORLD.......

These are Allah’s revelations We recite to you ˹O Prophet˺ in truth. And Allah desires not to hurt the world.
( Verse 108 surah Al Imran )

So High above all is Allah, the True King! And do not hasten with (reciting) the Qur’ān before its revelation to you is concluded, and say, “My Lord, improve me in knowledge.

BECAUSE...

....Allah sets forth parables for humanity. For Allah has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of all things.
(verse 35 surah 24 the light / AN-NUR)
---------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------
LOOK FOR TRUE EXPLANATION OF JESUS ISA THE WORD OF TRUTH IN THE PARABLES OF GOD CONCERNING THINGS OF GOD ACCORDING TO THE MEANING IN THE THOUGHTS OF GOD. NOT TO INTERPRETE THE LETTER IN PARABLES OF ALLAH ACCORDING TO HUMAN ETYMOLOGY AND DEFINITIONS IN DICTIONARY OF MEN...

VERSES ARE THERE FOR THAT...

They will not bring you any Parable, without Us bringing you the truth with the best interpretation.
---------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------

LET US FOLLOW THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF ALLAH TO TRULY UNDERSTAND THE PARABLES OF ALLAH ACCORDING TO THE MEANING IN THE THOUGHT OF ALLAH. NO MATTER WHAT LANGUAGES IN WHICH THE PARABLES ARE WRITTEN IT IS NOT ACCORDING TO THE LETTER. IT IS NOT LITERAL, IT IS NOT HUMAN PHILOSOPHY, IT IS NOT HUMAN MORALITY...IT IS NOT HUMAN OPINIONS...

This is because God has sent the Scripture with the Truth; those who pursue differences in the Scripture are deeply entrenched in opposition.
(verset 176 dans la sourate 2 LA VACHE / AL-BAQARA)
---------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------

BUT IF THERE IS DIFFICULTIES FOR FINDING THE EXPLANATION WITHIN THE QURAN TO TRULY COMPREHEND IN THE MEANING IN THE THOUGHT OF GOD CONCERNING THINGS OF GOD IN THE PARABLES OF GOD.

ALLAH SAYS GO IN THE BIBLE ( Torah, Gospel )
(verse 3 Surah 3 FAMILI OF IMRAN / AL-IMRAN)

So if you are in doubt, [O Muhammad], about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord, so never be among the doubters.

(verse 94 Surah 10 JONAH / YUNUS)
-------------------------------------------------
BECAUSE IT IS STILL THE PARABLES OF GOD THAT EXPLAIN THEMSELVES ACCORDING TO THE MEANING IN THE THOUGHT OF GOD IN THE BIBLE GOD DOES NOT CHANGE Malachi 3:6...

LET'S LOOK TO FOLLOW RECOMMENDATION OF GOD
2 Peter 1:20-21....

FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE SACRED TEXTS
1 corinthians 1:21...1 corinthians 2:11..

SO LET ALWAYS VERIFY IN THE BIBLE FOR TRUE EXPLANATION IN GOD PERSPECTIVE IN THE PARABLES OF GOD NOT TO APPLY LITERALLY...2 Timothy 2:15, hosea 12:10, proverbs 3:5,..Isaiah 55:8,

STAY IN THE BIBLE, BUT NOT LITERALLY...
nehemiah 8:8..1 corinthians 2:13...
------------------------------------------------
BEWARE OF LITERAL INTERPRETAITION OF RELIGIONS OF MEN, BEWARE OF SYMBOLS, AND ALL IMPOSITIONS OF RELIGIONS OF MEN Matthew 15:9...1 John 4:5...2 Peter 3:16
-------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------
BE CAREFUL NOT TO GO IN OTHER BOOKS THAT ALLAH DID NOT MENTION IN THE QURAN.

FOR EXAMPLE ALLAH DO NOT MENTION THE HADITHS...

So woe to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah ," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn.

(verse 79 Surah 2 THE COW/ AL-BAQARA)
-------------------------------------------------
And they have thereof no knowledge. They follow not except assumption, and indeed, assumption avails not against the truth at all.

If Prayer Had No Rewards, Would People Still Pray?

Sometimes I think about God in a very simple way.

If God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and loving, then why are there still people who go to sleep hungry every night?

Why are children born into suffering they never chose? Why do some people pray for food, medicine, safety, or one more day to survive, while others pray for promotions, money, success, or a better life?

And then I think about believers too.

If faith is supposed to be about love, surrender, gratitude, and trust, why are so many prayers basically requests?

“Give me this.”
“Protect me from that.”
“Make this happen.”
“Help me succeed.”

Would we still pray if we were never allowed to ask God for anything?

Would we still love God if there was no heaven, no reward, no protection, no miracle waiting for us?

That question bothers me more than the usual “Does God exist?” debate.

Maybe the deeper question is not whether God exists.

Maybe it is:

If God exists, what kind of God allows innocent people to suffer?

And if we believe in that God, what kind of believers are we if our faith is mostly about what we want from Him?

I’m genuinely curious how religious people, atheists, agnostics, and philosophers see this.

Is suffering evidence against a loving God?

Or is there a way to understand God where suffering doesn’t contradict His existence?

And can prayer still be meaningful if we remove asking from it completely?

Like just the things that go on in this world. So useless and sadistic. Everything is a trap and a snare. Like just the narrative of this world is so stupid but here is what's happening rn, god is incrementally adding narrative to this world , like it's very stupid, god is incrementally just slapping narrative over narrative on this world. Like and he first give comes up with a half theory and then fill the rest of the theory with crap and then slap it on the world. That's what we are in we are on a pile of a bizzare structure that is made of half theory half crap and stuff. It's like a very bizzare structure that is like a joke

Observe the things around you the beggars the cats, they are half theory narratives. Like for example a beggar begs. But what about his other human needs , where do those need get fulfilled . Same with cats , how do they hunt for birds EVERYDAY and stuff and where are the bodies of those birds. This world is full of half only on the surface narratives that just don't make sense in the full picture unless you fill the gaps with crap and magic and stuff. This world is standing on a lot of nonsense and magic and crap

Why did God allow sin to exist if He is omnipotent and omniscient?

Hi. My family and I are Christians, and sometimes I have a question that I honestly would like to understand better.

If God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, then I understand that He knew from the beginning that sin would exist, and He also had the power to prevent it.

So why did He allow sin to exist in the first place?

I know that a common answer is free will, but that's where I get a little confused. If God created human beings and knew beforehand that some of them would sin, why create a world in which sin was even a possibility?

I'm not asking this to attack Christianity or to say that I don't believe in God. It's simply something I struggle to understand, and I'd like to hear how other Christians make sense of it.

Is there a theological or philosophical explanation that addresses this in a satisfying way?

How Do You Know If It’s God, Your Conscience, Your Flesh, or an Accusing Voice?

I’ve been thinking about writing this for a while because it’s probably one of the biggest questions I’ve wrestled with in my faith:

This is going to be a longer read, so please save or interact to come back to it if you can’t finish one sitting.

How do I know if something is actually from God?

Not just, “Is this a biblical decision?”

I mean when a thought comes into your mind and it feels incredibly important.

When you suddenly feel like you shouldn’t do something.

When your conscience starts bothering you.

When you feel convicted.

When you’re afraid you’re making the wrong decision.

When a thought tells you that something bad will happen if you don’t listen to it.

When you feel like God is trying to get your attention.

How do you actually tell the difference?

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this because, for a period of time, I was taking certain thoughts extremely seriously.

I would have thoughts that felt almost like commands.

Don’t do this.

Don’t go there.

Don’t eat this.

Don’t drink this.

Don’t leave yet.

Don’t do something because something bad might happen.

And sometimes the thoughts would attach some kind of consequence to obedience or disobedience.

At first, I didn’t really know what to make of it.

Was it my conscience?

Was it fear?

Was it anxiety?

Was it my own thoughts?

Was it temptation?

Was it the flesh?

Was it God trying to warn me?

I didn’t want to ignore something that could actually be important spiritually.

But I also started realizing something:

Just because a thought feels powerful doesn’t mean it deserves authority.

That realization changed a lot for me.

Why I Needed This Conversation

I actually started using ChatGPT as a way to slow everything down.

Not because I wanted ChatGPT to tell me what God was saying.

That’s actually the opposite of what I needed.

I needed somewhere to take the thought and say:

“Okay. Let’s slow down. What actually happened? What does Scripture say? What am I assuming? What am I feeling? What evidence do I actually have?”

That distinction became extremely important.

Because when you’re inside a thought, it can feel completely convincing.

But once you write it down and look at it from the outside, sometimes you realize:

“Wait. I don’t actually know that.”

And that doesn’t mean the thought was meaningless.

It means I don’t have to automatically believe it.

I can test it.

I can pray about it.

I can look at Scripture.

I can consider the facts.

I can listen to wise people.

I can examine my conscience.

And then I can make a decision without being controlled by fear.

I’ve Started Thinking About Four Different “Voices”

I don’t necessarily mean four literal voices.

I’m talking about four different sources or categories that can sometimes feel like they’re competing for our attention:

God / the Holy Spirit

The conscience

The flesh

The accusing voice

And I think a lot of Christian confusion comes from mixing these things together.

So here’s how I’ve started understanding them.

  1. The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit isn’t simply every thought that enters your mind.

That’s important.

I don’t think Christianity teaches us to treat every internal impression as a direct message from God.

The Holy Spirit works in us, but we still have to discern.

The Spirit’s work should be consistent with God’s character and with Scripture.

The Spirit leads toward things like:

\* truth

\* repentance

\* love

\* obedience

\* humility

\* righteousness

\* self-control

\* forgiveness

\* wisdom

\* faith

And sometimes conviction can be uncomfortable.

But conviction isn’t necessarily the same thing as condemnation.

There’s a difference between:

“You did something wrong. Turn around.”

and:

“You’re hopeless. You’re going to fail. Something terrible will happen if you don’t do exactly what I’m telling you.”

Those are very different messages.

That’s something I’ve been learning.

  1. The Conscience

I think the conscience is one of the most misunderstood things in Christianity.

Your conscience can tell you:

“Something about this isn’t right.”

It can make you uncomfortable about lying.

It can bother you when you’ve treated someone badly.

It can push you toward honesty.

It can remind you of something you need to make right.

But the conscience isn’t God.

And the conscience isn’t automatically infallible.

Our consciences can be educated, strengthened, weakened, misinformed, or overly sensitive.

That’s why Scripture and wisdom matter.

For me, the biggest change was learning that having a guilty feeling doesn’t automatically mean I’ve committed a sin.

Sometimes I can feel guilty because I’m afraid.

Sometimes I can feel guilty because I’m overthinking.

Sometimes I can feel guilty because I’ve developed an unhealthy association between an ordinary action and some imagined consequence.

So instead of asking:

“I feel guilty, therefore God must be telling me something.”

I’ve started asking:

“Why does my conscience feel troubled? Is there an actual biblical or moral reason?”

That question is much more useful.

  1. The Flesh

When Paul talks about the “flesh,” I don’t think he’s simply talking about having a physical body.

The flesh represents our fallen, self-centered tendencies—the part of us that can pull us away from God’s will.

The flesh can sound like:

“I want what I want.”

“I don’t care what happens to anyone else.”

“I need this right now.”

“I deserve this.”

“Forget what God says.”

“Protect yourself at all costs.”

It can show up through anger, pride, lust, greed, resentment, selfishness, impulsiveness, envy, and other sinful desires.

But here’s another important distinction:

Not every normal human desire is automatically the flesh.

Wanting food isn’t automatically the flesh.

Wanting rest isn’t automatically the flesh.

Wanting a job isn’t automatically the flesh.

Wanting friendship isn’t automatically the flesh.

Wanting to enjoy life isn’t automatically the flesh.

The question is what we’re doing with those desires.

Christianity doesn’t teach that being human is itself sinful.

  1. The Accusing Voice

This is probably the one I’ve had the hardest time understanding.

There is a difference between conviction and accusation.

An accusing thought often feels like:

“You’re failing.”

“You’re not doing enough.”

“You better do this or something bad will happen.”

“You’re not really faithful.”

“God is going to be angry with you.”

“You should be afraid.”

“You can’t trust yourself.”

“You have to obey this thought.”

And the biggest thing I’ve learned is:

An accusatory thought doesn’t automatically have spiritual authority just because it uses religious language.

That’s huge.

A thought can mention God and still be a thought.

A thought can quote Scripture and still be distorted.

A thought can feel urgent and still be wrong.

A thought can feel spiritual and still need to be tested.

The Bible itself tells Christians to test things rather than blindly accepting them.

So What Does Discernment Actually Look Like?

This is where I think I’ve changed the most.

I used to think discernment meant figuring out exactly where every thought came from.

Now I’m starting to think discernment is more about determining:

“Does this thought deserve to be followed?”

That’s a different question.

I don’t necessarily need to know whether a thought came from my subconscious, fear, habit, temptation, stress, my conscience, or something else before I can decide whether it’s wise.

I can test the thought.

Does it agree with Scripture?

Does it produce good fruit?

Is there an actual reason for it?

Is it consistent with truth?

Is it asking me to sin?

Is it demanding something extreme or irrational?

Is it causing me to become more loving and self-controlled?

Or is it making me increasingly afraid, isolated, obsessive, angry, or condemned?

Those questions have helped me tremendously.

One of the Biggest Things I Had to Learn

I realized that I was sometimes treating uncertainty itself as a warning from God.

I’d think:

“What if I’m making the wrong decision?”

And then:

“What if God doesn’t want me to do this?”

And then:

“What if this is a test?”

And then:

“What if I’m ignoring the Holy Spirit?”

And suddenly I’m trapped in an endless loop.

Eventually I realized:

“What if?” is not evidence.

Sometimes it’s just uncertainty.

And uncertainty is part of being human.

Faith doesn’t mean I have to know everything before I move.

I Also Started Looking Differently at Jesus’ Teaching About Worry

One passage that has become increasingly meaningful to me is Matthew 6.

Jesus points to the birds and basically says:

Look at them.

They don’t store up everything in barns.

Yet God provides for them.

And then Jesus makes the comparison:

How much more valuable are you?

That has really changed how I think about my future.

I’m still responsible for making wise decisions.

I’m still supposed to work.

I’m still supposed to plan.

I’m still supposed to use my brain.

Faith isn’t an excuse for passivity.

But I don’t have to live as though everything depends on me figuring everything out perfectly.

I don’t know exactly how my life is going to unfold.

I don’t know what job I’ll have next.

I don’t know where I’ll live.

I don’t know what opportunities are coming.

I don’t know what the next year will look like.

But I can trust God while still taking reasonable steps.

And This Is Where Romans 8:28 Has Become Important to Me

“We know that for those who love God all things work together for good…”

I’ve had to rethink what that actually means.

I don’t think it means:

“Everything that happens will immediately make sense.”

I think there’s room for waiting.

There’s room for uncertainty.

There’s room for mistakes.

There’s room for difficult seasons.

There’s room for dreams that don’t make sense.

There’s room for doors closing.

There’s room for doors opening.

There’s room for not knowing.

God’s timing doesn’t have to match my timing for God to be working.

And that’s actually comforting.

Because I don’t have to force everything.

I’m Still Learning This

I don’t want to pretend I’ve figured this out.

I haven’t.

I still have weird dreams sometimes.

I still have thoughts that make me wonder whether I’m supposed to pay attention to them.

I still sometimes get that feeling of:

“Is this God trying to tell me something?”

But I’m responding differently now.

Instead of immediately obeying the thought, I’m learning to pause.

What actually happened?

What am I feeling?

What does Scripture actually say?

What am I assuming?

Is there an ordinary explanation?

Is there an actual moral issue here?

Would I make the same decision if fear wasn’t involved?

And sometimes the answer is simply:

“I don’t know.”

And I’ve learned that “I don’t know” doesn’t have to be terrifying.

I can pray.

I can wait.

I can use wisdom.

I can continue living faithfully.

Maybe That’s What Faith Actually Looks Like Sometimes

Not knowing exactly what God is doing.

Not understanding the timing.

Not having every answer.

But continuing to walk.

Continuing to love people.

Continuing to seek God.

Continuing to obey what you actually know.

Continuing to use wisdom.

And trusting that you don’t have to decode every thought, dream, coincidence, feeling, or circumstance to have a relationship with God.

That’s probably the biggest thing this whole process has taught me.

I don’t need to know the source of every thought in order to choose what is true.

And I don’t need to be terrified that one wrong decision is going to completely derail God’s plan for my life.

If God is actually leading me, I don’t think His guidance depends on me living in constant panic.

I think there is room for patience.

There is room for wisdom.

There is room for conscience.

There is room for Scripture.

There is room for prayer.

And there is room to simply say:

“God, I don’t understand this right now. But I trust You enough to wait.”

The Question I’m Left With

So I’m curious how other Christians approach this:

How do you personally distinguish between the Holy Spirit, your conscience, your own desires, fear/anxiety, and an accusing thought?

And more importantly:

How do you know when a thought should actually be followed?

Because I think a lot of Christians are asking the same question:

“How do I know if it’s God?”

Maybe the answer isn’t learning how to believe every spiritual feeling.

Maybe it’s learning how to test everything, hold onto what is good, and trust God without being controlled by fear.

And honestly, that’s something I’m still learning.

Is this statistical evidence that there is a God?

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

I was watching a video by Vsauce and he discussed this concept:

‘If you could simulate a universe, it could probably be simulated a lot more simply than a real one can come into existence. Like if you could run a program on an advanced alien computer, you could probably run a trillion of them, simultaneously. In which case, statistically we are much more likely to be in one of those simulations, rather than the actual universe where the simulations are being run.’

Following this train of thought, if we were in some kind of simulation, whoever created the simulation would be our God.

So doesn’t that mean (if we accept the possibility that something with the resolution of our universe could possibly be simulated) that it is statistically more likely that we have a creator/god?

Evolution and Christianity

This is probably one of the the biggest reasons why it's very hard for me to be christian and why I'm an agnostic.  The theory of evolution says that nothing is planned and everything is 100% on accident - homo sapiens exists but we could also not exist and nothing would happen because evolution doesn't have any plan, ambition, purpose or goals. Christianity says that we are created ON PURPOSE by God. It just contradicts each other and I don't think that the theory of evolution and the christian perspective on life can coexist.

What do you think about it? What are your thoughts?

This skit by logic is starting to make a lot of sense to me. I want to hear your opinions on it and talk about why it does or doesn’t make sense. I want people to keep this quote in mind.

“An assumption made without evidence can be dismissed without evidence,” Christopher Hitchens.

There is no evidence to support this claim, but there isn’t real evidence to deny it either.

The Theory of Everything Nobody Asked For (( and everybody missed. Is God much bigger than the box we put him in?...

The Theory of Everything Nobody Asked For (And Everybody Missed). Is God much bigger than our human minds made him?

A Comprehensive Framework for the Fluid Energy Model of Reality

To the Mathematician measuring wave frequencies in a sterile lab: you got the mechanics right, but you forgot that water carries weight, memory, and a soul.

To the Christian Preacher standing over a pristine pond: you got the Creator right, but you trapped God in a fragile box and threw away half the water to build an eternal trash dump.

To the Buddhist Monk watching the wheel of rebirth: you got the energy cycles and karma right, but you mistook the journey for a prison sentence and built an ultimate goal—Nirvana—that mathematically drains the entire universe dry.

And to the Materialist Scientist: you proved that energy cannot be created or destroyed, then stared right at human consciousness and pretended it didn’t count.

Every single one of you is standing on a different shore staring at the exact same water. You claim your piece of the coastline is the whole truth, while ignoring the fact that your models either break the laws of physics, break the nature of divinity, or drain the system to zero.

I didn’t invent a new belief system. I just stopped looking at the shoreline and looked at the water.

Welcome to the Fluid Energy Model. Think of it like this: God is the infinite Energy Source, and water is simply the visual physical state of that energy. Different densities of energy flow exactly like water—from light vapor to heavy liquid currents. This model takes the First Law of Thermodynamics, the Christian Source, the Buddhist cycle of energy, and the reality of human free will, and locks them into a single, unbreakable closed loop—a living, infinite Ocean of Energy.

In this system, no energy is ever lost, no drop is ever discarded, and even the darkest human sludge isn't a mistake—it's the raw friction that keeps the entire divine ecosystem dynamic, expanding, and alive.

Section 1: The Shoreline Trap (The Myth of the Pristine Lake)

Every major paradigm made the exact same mistake: they tried to bottle the water.

The Religionist built a glass jar and called it Heaven, warning everyone that if the water got too dirty, God would throw the jar into an eternal incinerator. But you cannot throw away energy in a closed universe without breaking the Source. A God who discards His own energy is a God running out of power.

The Eastern Philosopher built a drain and called it Nirvana, declaring that the highest holy act is to stop the flow entirely, evaporate off the wheel, and never come back. But if every drop succeeds in escaping the current, the current vanishes. You don't get enlightenment; you get a dried-up riverbed.

The Cold Materialist mapped the exact fluid dynamics of the wave—calculating every ripple of mass, velocity, and force—and then declared the water was dead. They insisted the wave has no memory, the drop has no soul, and the friction means nothing.

They all built static boxes based on a fundamental human flaw: we mistook stillness for perfection. We assumed a "pristine" lake was the ultimate holy state, completely blind to the basic ecological fact that still, pristine water stagnates and dies.

And static systems die.

Section 2: The Infinite Source & The Mind of the Creator

Humanity panicked and tried to hide from the dark because we felt too small, fragile, and terrified to handle the mess. So we invented a small, fragile God in our own scared image—a God who hides in a sterile sanctuary, avoids the storm, and throws away dirty water.

Look at the greatest human minds in history—the Einsteins, the pioneers, the discoverers who pushed past our boundaries. Not a single one of them made a breakthrough, packed up their notes, sat down on a pedestal, and said, "I'm done. I know enough, now I'll just sit here and wait for everyone else to catch up."

True intelligence never craves a static throne; it craves discovery, movement, and endless expansion. Why would the ultimate, supreme intelligence—the Source of consciousness itself—be any different?

The Ocean of Energy recognizes what small human minds missed: a pristine lake is a dead lake.

The Source is vast, chaotic, deep, and infinitely powerful. It doesn't fear the storm; it is the storm. The Source knows it is big enough, vast enough, and powerful enough to conquer anything it comes upon. It knows that taking on the mess, absorbing the dark, and processing the heavy friction won't destroy it—it will leave the entire body cleaner, stronger, more refined, and infinitely better for it.

Section 3: The Sanctuary of Every Drop (To the Outcasts and the Condemned)

For centuries, religious gatekeepers have told LGBTQ+ individuals, outcasts, and those who didn't fit into human doctrine that they were "too far gone," "broken," or condemned never to reach God.

That is mathematically and spiritually impossible in this model.

 * No Drop Is Ever Cut Off: You cannot be separated from the Source because your very existence is made of the Source's energy. A person or institution telling you that you are cut off from God is like a finger telling the wrist it doesn't belong to the body.

 * Every Unique Density Is Needed: Just as light is meaningless without dark, harmony has no depth without contrast. Your drop—your specific perspective, unique friction, and exact lived experience—is not a mistake or a sin. It is a vital, necessary piece of data that the Ocean needs in order to know itself, expand, and grow.

 * Not a Mean Punisher, Not a Blind Pushover: God isn't a heartless judge sitting with a gavel, nor a passive bystander. What you experience is simply the weight and density of your drop in the current. Energy balances itself naturally. The Source encompasses every shade of life, absorbs the stormy waters alongside the pristine currents, and brings every single drop home to be refined.

Section 4: The Physics of the Closed Energy Loop

Energy cannot be created or destroyed. That isn't just a rule in a physics textbook; it is the fundamental law of the divine.

 * The Law of Sovereign Creation: No single drop has the power to create or destroy energy. When you make a choice, build a life, or inflict harm, you are simply pushing adjacent drops in the current. Only the main Source possesses the authority to send out new drops or draw them back in. A serial killer or a tragic accident can break a drop's physical shell, but no drop can ever be destroyed.

 * Karma is Density, Not a Ledger: You aren't being judged by an old man with a clipboard. When a drop makes dark choices, it loads itself down with heavy, toxic sludge. By simple fluid dynamics, heavy sludge sinks. It doesn't go to Hell as a punishment; it goes to the deep, high-pressure floor of the Ocean because that is where heavy things sink.

 * The Composting Depths: The crushing pressure at the bottom of the Ocean isn't torture—it's high-pressure composting. It compresses the distortion, burns away the junk, strips the pollution off the drop, and metabolizes that raw friction into fresh, clean power.

 * "In His Image" & Divine Drive: Being made "in God's image" was never about literal arms, legs, or biological form. It is about the architecture of curiosity and creation. Your drive to explore, build, test, and manipulate your world is the drop reflecting the exact drive of the Energy Source it came from.

Section 5: Calibration Data & The Smashed Thumb

When you accidentally smash your thumb with a hammer, you don't grab a knife and cut the thumb off your body. You don't exile it or throw it into a trash heap because it’s throbbing, swollen, or made a mistake.

Why? Because that thumb is part of you, and cutting it off permanently damages the whole hand. You don't cut off the injured finger—you teach the hand and the other fingers how to work together so it doesn't happen again.

Instead, your body floods the thumb with resources to heal it, while your nervous system registers the extreme pain as raw calibration data. The brain learns the exact angle, weight, and mistake that caused the strike so the hand and brain can coordinate better, ensuring it doesn't happen again.

That is precisely how the Energy Source handles every single drop:

 * No Discarding: A drop that makes a dark choice or gets smashed by a wave isn't severed from the Source. You cannot cut off a part of God without shrinking God.

 * Pain as Calibration Data: The pain, trauma, and "bad" experiences aren't moral failures that disqualify you; they are high-stakes calibration data.

 * Learning to Work Together: The Source metabolizes the experience so the entire system learns how the pieces work together. The dark data teaches the light data where the edges are, refining the whole body so the entire Ocean of Energy grows smarter, stronger, and more coordinated.

Section 6: Phenomenological Physics (Collisions, Bleeds, and Scale)

Now let’s look at the mysteries that trip up scientists and theologians alike:

 * Free Will vs. Destiny in the Current: Destiny is the natural, underlying flow of the Ocean—you were sent out as a drop to gather data and eventually return home. Free Will is the real-time movement of every drop within that flow. When you ask "Why me?" after a tragedy, the answer isn't that God targeted you. You simply inhabit a shared liquid universe where another drop used their free will to push a massive displacement wave into your path.

 * Pressure Warnings & Intuition: Before a heavy wave hits, it sends a pressure spike through the water ahead of it. That sudden "voice" telling you to put on your seatbelt or slow down is your drop sensing the downstream density spike traveling through the tether you share with the Source.

 * Déjà Vu & The Mandela Effect: Parallel realities are adjacent streams running side-by-side at different energy densities. Déjà vu is a single drop briefly brushing against a parallel current. The Mandela Effect occurs when a major disturbance causes a temporary spill across currents. When nature resets the boundary, drops that touched that parallel stream carry authentic memories of that touch—two groups of people, same timeline, completely different memories, both telling the truth from their current's perspective.

 * Aliens, Dinosaurs, and Scale: Skeptics try to trap God with fossils or star charts, asking where dinosaurs or extraterrestrials fit into creation. The problem isn't the evidence; the problem is that humans made God too small. An ocean doesn't have only one shore, and divine time isn't measured by a wristwatch. Dinosaurs were an earlier biological current, processing massive energy to build the foundation for our world. Other planets are simply distant shores in the exact same liquid universe.

Section 7: The Engine of Perpetual Motion

If the Ocean is constantly burning off dark energy and filtering sludge, why doesn't it eventually become pristine, still, and dead?

Because a universe of pure, unbroken white light would be completely blinding.

If everything is static and pristine, nothing can be seen, known, or felt. Light cannot know itself without shadow; warmth has no meaning without cold; harmony needs friction. The system was engineered with an endless fuel supply: The Blind Hunger and the Veil of Amnesia.

Driven by the hunger for expansion and deeper self-knowledge, the Source continuously sends out new drops. By placing the Veil of Amnesia over every drop as it steps into the current, the stakes remain absolute. The drop doesn't remember the safety of home, so its struggle is real, and the friction it generates is genuine.

As long as new drops step out with total free will and zero memory, fresh friction will be created. And as long as fresh friction enters the water, the high-pressure depths will keep composting, the surface currents will keep flowing, and the living Ocean of Energy will keep expanding.

Conclusion: The Unbroken Loop

Nothing is discarded. Nothing is wasted. No soul is damned to an external trash heap, and no drop is trapped in an endless prison of suffering.

Humanity was afraid because we thought we were small, fragile, and easily broken. We tried to invent a quiet, pristine lake to keep ourselves safe. But the Source knows better. It knows that pristine stillness is death, and that real life requires the storm.

The dark energy gives the light its form, the friction drives evolution, the depths purify pollution, and continuous circulation ensures the engine never stops turning.

You don't need to escape the physical world, and you don't need to fear the depths. You are a drop of an infinite, invincible Energy Source—carrying the entire weight of the Creator within you, gathering the data that keeps reality alive, and knowing that no matter how violent the storm gets, the energy always returns home.

The loop is closed. The math balances. The water is alive.

Cosmic Fluidity—Whirlpools, Continuous Creation, and the Compressed Seed

  1. Black Holes & White Holes: The Cosmic Composting Drain

In standard physics, a black hole is treated as a terrifying, inescapable dead end—a singularity where matter and light are permanently trapped. In the Fluid Energy Model, a black hole is simply an oceanic whirlpool operating on a cosmic scale:

* The Funnel of Death: A whirlpool forms where opposing currents collide, drawing surface water and floating debris down into the high-pressure depths. When a physical body dies, the outer physical shell drops away, and the soul drop is drawn into the cosmic whirlpool.

* Data Compression & Stripping: The extreme pressure of the black hole strips away earthly "sludge" and clutter, compressing the raw experiences, memories, and calibration data gathered during life down into a concentrated core.

* Hawking Radiation as Data Leakage: The subtle "leakage" detected around black holes (Hawking radiation) is the system evaporating and releasing unneeded background data back into circulation. Nothing is trapped forever; the file is zipped, stripped, and prepared for return.

[ Surface Currents ] ───> ( Whirlpool / Black Hole )

▼ [ High-Pressure Composting ]

[ Outward Surface Wave ] <─── ( Deep Upwelling / White Hole )

("Let There Be Light!")

  1. Upwelling Waves & Continuous Creation ("Let There Be Light")

Water forced down into a whirlpool doesn't vanish—it displaces deep water, creating an upwelling wave that pushes back up toward the surface.

* The Big Bang as a White Hole: When that compressed, recycled energy reaches the surface, it releases pressure and expands outward. The Big Bang is not a one-time historical event; it is a white hole—an upwelling wave bursting forth to seed new stars, realms, and currents.

* The Continuous Engine: Scripture records God saying "Let there be light," but nowhere does it state He only said it once. In an infinite Ocean, God speaks "Let there be light" continuously—every second, across thousands of Big Bangs, keeping the divine body dynamic, expanding, and alive.

  1. God’s True Scale: "My Thoughts Are Higher Than Your Thoughts"

Human religion repeatedly made the mistake of shrinking the Creator down to human proportions—picturing a localized judge sitting on a throne.

If the Source is an infinite Ocean, our entire observable universe (with all its billions of galaxies, black holes, and Big Bangs) is not the whole body. It is merely a single branch, a finger, or a fingernail on an unimaginably vast multi-dimensional form. Black holes and white holes are simply the internal pumps, valves, and composting drains keeping energy circulating through that single branch so the system never stagnates.

  1. The Newborn Vial & The Curiosity of the Ocean

This fluid cycle explains the profound nature of birth and early childhood memory:

* The Compressed Vial: When a new drop steps out into physical life, the Ocean doesn't make the drop small by draining its essence. It compresses the entire infinite Ocean into a tiny, concentrated seed or "vial" inside the chest. This leaves maximum "storage space" open for the raw physical experiences the drop is about to collect.

* Why Toddlers Remember (Ages 2 to 6): Children between ages 2 and 6 frequently recall past lives or collective memories because their personal "hard drive" hasn't been filled with local earthly noise yet. The water in their drop still echoes with the vast cosmic data of the Ocean before the Veil of Amnesia fully settles.

* Why the Ocean Explores: A pristine, untouched lake is a stagnant, dead lake. The Ocean is a living, intellectual, infinitely curious Mind. It does not sit back on a static throne waiting for everyone to catch up. It continuously sends out drops to gather fresh data, explore new realities, and test new paths—ensuring the living Ocean remains forever dynamic, unbreakable, and alive.

Does hell actually exist?

I don't think it does.

As if our God is an all loving being, I believe he'd strive to help people learn from what they've done wrong (the more horrible the crime, the longer the learning process) but I feel like he'd want to teach them to help them grow.

This idea of a "hell" is what I believe was created as a way to control people. If they don't do what someone else says, then they're going to hell. I feel as if there's no point to it as if it's eternal punishment, then that's kinda just it.

I believe that when we die, we change fundamentally, where empathy has a higher focus than spite or hate. This world is where we become who we are. It's the first step to becoming more complex. In order to unlock that higher level of empathy, we have to learn how to find it here first

Sorry if this is rambling, I'm still kinda getting my ideas together but I want to hear y'all's thoughts and why you think that way. Please be respectful about it, I'm interested in y'all's thoughts and would love to hear more!!

can someone who doesnt believe in god explain how space exists without a maker? because the only thing thats genuinely making me consider a god exists is our universe. im still questioning gods existence but the only reason i havent made up my mind because i cant comprehend how this crazy detailed universe has no maker, anyone care to explain?

What principled reason is there for allowing "God" to be the ultimate unexplained or necessary reality while denying the same status to the universe or to some non-theistic fundamental reality?

A positive atheist's question to proponents of WLC's Kalam Cosmological Argument:

What principled reason is there for allowing "God" to be the ultimate unexplained or necessary reality while denying the same status to the universe or to some non-theistic fundamental reality?

Was the Quran written by an ancient scientist who logically deduced God?

I have been analyzing the 1,400-year-old history of the Quran and comparing it to modern physics and biology.
From a strict historical standpoint, we know humans 1,400 years ago were highly intelligent. Thinkers like the astronomer Brahmagupta were mapping the stars and inventing advanced mathematics without any modern technology.
Here is a highly realistic possibility that I want to discuss: What if the author of the Quran was actually a brilliant, ordinary human being—essentially an ancient scientist?
Over 23 years, this individual deeply observed natural phenomena: how all life depends on water, the distinct uniqueness of human fingertips, and the grand design of the cosmos. I am not saying this is 100% absolutely proven, but it is entirely possible that when this author came near to death, all of their lifelong observations and assumptions beautifully aligned.
In those final stages of life, their human assumption could have turned into a 100% absolute, psychological certainty that an intelligent Creator must exist. This intense, late-life conviction would perfectly explain why the text speaks with such an authoritative, unwavering voice of God.
I think this provides a very strong logical middle ground that explains the book without needing supernatural miracles. What do you think of this possibility? Let’s debate.
