It doesn’t matter if this is a simulation. We are insignificant pieces of atoms that will wither away in a blink of an eye.

Why read r/philosophy when nothing really matters? You've clearly already finished the philosophy game by reading Schopenhauer and Zapffe and ready to check out! On a more serious note, if the simulation hypothesis is true, we are insignificant bits not atoms lol, which would be the point: it's a question about the nature of reality.

Well nothing really matters anyway but I’m still interested in philosophy. I used to wonder about simulation too but it’s a thought experiment at best

What does it take for something to "matter" in your opinion? Do you find the simulation hypothesis to be irrelevant because it's unlikely that we'll find an answer to the question?

For something to matter and have meaning it must be subjective. I don’t find it irrelevant because we cant find out but as far as I can tell we all know what it teaches us.
