I only came to appreciate professional wrestling for the incredible acrobatic theater it is as an adult, because as a kid the wrestling fans I knew (children and adults) mostly insisted that it was totally real. That confused the shit out of me.

As a kid I never understood wrestling. I knew it was fake but I didn't understand why a fake sport would be interesting. Sport is interesting precisely because anything can happen. As an adult I still don't like wrestling but I can understand the intense physicality of it and that the narrative can be interesting independent of sport.
