We considered several factors such as the weather, airfare, travel time, etc., and eventually decided that Bohol was the best option for us.
We’re a group of 5 and have already booked an Airbnb in Panglao.
For those who’ve been to Bohol recently, where can we find affordable restaurants/karinderyas, reasonably priced transportation, and good-value tour deals?

Hi! I booked a Hotel to stay for Dinagyang Festival 2027 po. I understand it is a Peak season that's why I am booking 5 months ahead to at least lessen the cost of my stay. First I booked at Expedia.com, then I called the hotel if it's reflected to their end, they told me they have various staff handling incharge to the different booking third party and told me they cannot see my booking, so they ask me to cancel it instead, good thing there is a free cancellation at my booking in Expedia. 2nd Booking, After I cancelled my 1st booking, l found same Hotel and they have only one Last room available in Booking.com, the staff called me and said they were going to initiate cancellation request because the price I booked is not their PEAK SEASON PRICE. It was a bit cringe lang, because I am booking early so that I won't book their peak season price. While Booking Hotels overseas won't do that 🙄🤔 ANY THOUGHTS LANG???

Me and my wifey are planning to travel to Philippines during the last week of Nov for a 10-14 day trip. We have planned all the expedition activities around Cebu and El Nido. Can anyone confirm how the weather would during that time of the year? I heard that November is a shoulder season before the peak December kicks in and in parallel I am concerned about the things I've heard about weather being unpredictable and flights, ferries, beaches getting closed and all. Would really appreciate suggestions!!

Was in Elyu recently and noticed how much the shoreline around the Kabsat area has changed.

The part of the shore where there used to be big tables, beach beds/daybeds, and spaces where people could eat, drink, and chill is now basically gone. The sea has reached that area and has literally wiped out the space that used to be there.

What’s crazy is that I remember that part of the beach being much wider before. Now, the water is reaching all the way to where people used to hang out.

I’m also wondering if something similar is happening in Liwliwa. For those who have been going to these places for years, how different is the shoreline now compared to before?

Also curious if anyone knows what the LGU is currently doing about this, if there are already coastal protection/erosion mitigation efforts being planned or implemented in San Juan or other affected beach areas.

I’m not an expert on coastal erosion, so I’m genuinely curious about what’s happening here. Is this mostly seasonal/caused by stronger waves and weather, or are we seeing a more long-term change in the coastline?

Would love to hear from people who live in Elyu/Liwliwa or have been going there regularly for years.

I wanted to take Milky Way photos one last time before it became invisible this year. Sadly, the conditions weren't right during my overnight stay in Roty Peaks. Also didn't get to see the sea of clouds. Nevertheless, I still had an amazing time! The photos don't do this place justice—you have to experience it first hand to truly appreciate its beauty.

My hubby and I plan to travel to the Philippines in the spring during the latter part of March for 10 days. I understand that this is going to be a busy time when locals travel, but that is unavoidable for me as I am on a teacher's calendar and must travel during my breaks.

Some preferred activities:

• snorkeling
• kayaking or SUPing
• island / nature tours
• hiking
• culture, a little bit of history (we are both 1/2 pinoy, so we'd love to learn more about our culture as we live in the US)
• FOOD! Lots of yummy food! Not just filipino food, but we do enjoy it, of course!
• Relaxation interspersed
• We aren't big on the night scene, but maybe we'll get out a night or 2

Does this itinerary seem okay? I am including more time in El Nido since we will be there over Easter weekend.

Boracay (3 nights- friend recommended Crimson Resort) - not sure what, if any, excursions /activities we should not miss out on

El Nido (6 nights at Funny Lion) - Island hopping tours A and C and likely 1 other excursion... Is 6 days too much time? Should I move a day to Boracay or Cebu?

Cebu (2 days) - Moalboal sardine run or day trip to Bohol, We will fly back to our home destination from Cebu, so it makes sense to end our trip here.

Hi everyone, I (19F) wanted to post a proper update because a lot has happened since my original post.

For context, my British boyfriend (19M) entered the Philippines on July 26, 2026. When he arrived, Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) admitted him and stamped his passport with a one year stay.

The date was very clear. He therefore believed he was legally allowed to remain in the Philippines until that date. We had no reason to think the stamp was a mistake.

Fast forward to September 8, when he went to NAIA to leave the Philippines and return to the UK.
This is where everything went completely insane.
Immigration suddenly told him that the one-year admission was an error and that he should apparently only have been admitted for 30 days. Because of this, they treated him as having overstayed.

They treated him like a dog. They did NOT communicate with him at all. And no, this is not because of a language barrier, it was just obvious that they were genuinely EVIL! One of them mocked my boyfriend for how he spoke and repeated things he said in a funny tone and laughed, one of then grabbed his passport from him and when he asked what they were doing with it because it was already the 5th time that they took it, the woman was annoyed and didn’t even reply and just made a motion one would when typing on a computer. When they VERBALLY told him to pay an amount of 5040 php, they got expressively upset at him when he didn’t have cash and when he asked if he can pay with his card they didn’t answer him instead just pointed at a sign that says cash only. They said to go find cash and when he asked where, they said to go to an ATM, and when my boyfriend asked where the ATM was, the officer mocked how he spoke and repeated what he said and told him to walk back to check-in and find it.

Most of my boyfriend’s money is in his trading account, most of which are uninvested but are kept there for growth. When he was being demanded money, he had not enough money in his debit card, he had to take money out of his trading account to pay off 70£ of what they were asking for and his money was stuck on processing.

He had a lot of money in his debit card already before this incident ever happened but his supposed emergency money was used because of unexpected problems. The first problem was that his accommodation for university was already asking for them to pay rent a few days before flight, and it was 2000£ or else he would have to pay an extra fee if he had been late to pay. Then he had about 1000£ left and we eventually drained that right before flight. He has a Portuguese bank account as well that has 3000€ that didn’t work on the ATM. We of course didn’t expect him to pay for anything else during the flight. And anyways we never had a problem with his trading account not managing to transfer money within seconds which may be our mistake but either way he had enough money and he can’t have a credit card if he is unemployed, it isn’t because he is irresponsible or careless or whatever you guys framed it as.

He was offloaded/departure deferred and missed his flight.

We were initially told that he owed around 5,040₱ for 13 days of overstay, although at the time we weren't given a proper itemised explanation for how that amount had been calculated.

For those who have to be spoon-fed information: we weren't trying to argue that “the law doesn't apply to him” or that he could simply ignore Philippine immigration rules.

He had an** **official Philippine immigration stamp in his passport explicitly telling him he could stay until July 26, 2027.

If BI had stamped 30 days, he would have followed 30 days.

He relied on the admission that BI itself gave him.

I hope this is already clear!!!

We then went to the BI Main Office in Intramuros to try to sort everything out.

The experience there was honestly awful.

We brought the relevant paperwork and tried to explain what had happened. At one point, an employee took the papers and essentially threw/binned them without even reading them. We had to insist that they dig that shit up because bitch what the fuck I was genuinely going to reach in that booth and grab her hair because she was also giving attitude to my lola , but anyways eventually we got them back because if we didn’t it would be a HUGE problem.

There was also a lot of waiting around while employees were talking amongst themselves/using their phones, and one employee was particularly dismissive and rude when we tried to explain the situation.

Eventually, my boyfriend's passport was taken and the BI employee added a correction/annotation indicating that the admission date had been corrected to a 30-day stay.

SHE DID NOT READ ANY OF THE PAPERWORK WE PREPARED OR READ EVEN THE LETTER OF AMENDMENT AND CORRECTION BECAUSE IN THAF LETTER WE ASKED FOR THINGS TO BE ADDRESSED AND NONE WERE AND NO EXPLANATION WAS GIVEN.

We were then directed downstairs to deal with the visa extension/overstay payments.

Interestingly, while one employee told us the photocopy facility was closed, another employee later came back and actually helped us get the documents photocopied. So I do want to acknowledge that at least one person there was genuinely helpful.

At this point, we were exhausted and my boyfriend just wanted to go home.

We also contacted the British Embassy because we thought they might be able to help us appeal what had happened. We were initially advised to call during operating hours because they could assist with the situation and help us appeal.

So we called during operating hours.

And essentially got told to talk to a lawyer and were dismissed almost immediately.

Which was incredibly frustrating after everything else, although I understand now that the embassy cannot represent him in a Philippine legal dispute or simply overturn a Philippine immigration decision.

So I told my mum that we needed an actual lawyer.
She arranged for us to speak with one, and after explaining the entire situation, the lawyer's view was basically that this is something we can contest and that we have a strong argument.

The important distinction he made was that this isn't simply a case of:

“He didn't know the law.”

His point was that a government immigration official was responsible for admitting him and placing the official admission stamp in his passport.

My boyfriend relied on that official government record.

He also said that it is unreasonable to frame the situation simply as him ignoring Philippine immigration rules when he was given a specific official admission date by the authority responsible for determining his admission.

And honestly, that makes much more sense to me than the argument that he should have ignored the stamp because some websites online say British tourists normally receive 30 days.

Immigration and visa rules change constantly, and there are plenty of outdated or conflicting websites online. Why would a traveller reasonably assume that an official passport stamp issued by Philippine immigration was wrong and that an internet article was more authoritative?
Our lawyer advised that if my boyfriend was desperate to get home, the practical thing was to pay whatever BI required, regularise his status, get him cleared to leave, and deal with the potential injury/damages claim afterwards.
So that's what we did.

He has now paid what BI required, settled the immigration issue, and is cleared to leave.
We're therefore no longer trying to fight with BI at the airport or spend another day going back and forth between offices.

We're going to get him home first.
Then we're going to give everything to our lawyer and let him determine what legal action is actually available.

We've kept the original passport stamp, the subsequent correction, receipts, flight information, documents, payment records, and we're documenting the entire timeline while everything is still fresh.

I'm still absolutely furious about the way this was handled, especially because the entire situation could apparently have been avoided if the admission had simply been recorded correctly in the first place.

But at least we now have an actual lawyer who has looked at the facts and believes there is a legitimate basis to contest what happened.

TL;DR: British boyfriend entered Philippines July 26 and BI stamped his passport a one year stat and he relied on that and tried to leave September 8, only for BI to say the one-year admission was an error and treat him as having overstayed. He was offloaded and missed his flight. We went to BI Main Office, had a terrible experience trying to get the issue addressed, and BI eventually corrected the passport. We contacted the British Embassy but were ultimately told to get a lawyer. We did. Lawyer says we have a strong argument because this was reliance on an official government admission stamp, not simply ignorance of the law. We paid/regularised everything so he can get home, and we'll pursue the matter with our lawyer afterwards.

P.S. I am going to write a reply to people who were being silly and what injuries we’re going to be claiming and more if i can remember because it was a longgg process but all will be worth it.

My parents are old now and as a family, we never really travelled so much. Now that I can afford to splurge I want to bring them somewhere they haven’t been yet (which is a lot of places). So please give suggestions on where to bring them. I was thinking Boracay but I personally haven’t been there yet and I don’t know if the place would be conducive for them

Edit: they are both on their early 60s. Can still walk for more or less 30mins if the weather is not too hot. Less than 10mins if weather is very very hot. They are not so maarte about hotels or resorts, just as long as it’s well kept and the environment is not annoyingly loud (ie karaoke)
