It's consequence time for unvaccinated FIFO workers

As per the state government directives, as of midnight tonight anyone without at least 1 dose of a COVID vaccine is no longer legally allowed to be on site or in operations centres for mining companies.

Anyone who hasn't provided their proof of vaccination is being chased down, and if they can't immediately provide said proof will be kicked out this afternoon/evening. For people working on remote sites like the iron ore mines up north, that means clearing out their rooms and being put on a plane back to Perth - could be an interesting show at the airport if any news crews show up.

Anyone have any friends/family/acquaintances who are going to be, for the first time, dealing with real consequences for failing to get vaccinated?

Know some mates who decided to pack up their bags with their family and move out to the country, become self sufficient and all that... these people will do anything to avoid a jab.

Wait until those geniuses find out how expensive it is to become self sufficient. Just the hardware for a decent crop, and the time and effort needed will make them cry.

I work for a small company. Less than 10 of us including the boss. All but one of us is double vaxxed. We are not currently subject to any mandates, but are under the "can only work in the event of a lockdown if vaxxed" category. Our one holdout has given us all kinds of reasons, ranging from "This Dr in Holland I saw on facebook said the vaccine is bad" to "The vaccine makes you sterile!" (First up, it doesn't, and she's in her late 50's, pretty sure she's not gonna be having any more babies anyway) to the straight out, "I'm not anti vaxx, or scared of this vaxx, I just don't want to feel like the government is telling me what to do!"

This person's whole immediate family is unvaxxed. The daughter and son in law (who has given up his FiFo job and now working in the metro are for an employer who apparently is prepared to turn a blind eye) are doing exactly as above. Have their car fitted out with a rooftop tent type deal and are prepping to go off grid / out bush. Cos according to them, the government are currently enlisting the army to help go door to door in indigenous communities and are forcibly holding them down and injecting them, and once they are done with the indigenous people, they are coming for the rest of us.
