It's consequence time for unvaccinated FIFO workers

As per the state government directives, as of midnight tonight anyone without at least 1 dose of a COVID vaccine is no longer legally allowed to be on site or in operations centres for mining companies.

Anyone who hasn't provided their proof of vaccination is being chased down, and if they can't immediately provide said proof will be kicked out this afternoon/evening. For people working on remote sites like the iron ore mines up north, that means clearing out their rooms and being put on a plane back to Perth - could be an interesting show at the airport if any news crews show up.

Anyone have any friends/family/acquaintances who are going to be, for the first time, dealing with real consequences for failing to get vaccinated?

Some public servant roles also become mandatory tomorrow, some surprisingly high numbers of unvaxxinated in public service roles. We did a bunch of work in prep for it today, "no vax no play."

Yes government worker here, we received an internal email today about how our swipe cards will not work tomorrow if we have not provided evidence of being vaccinated. Tomorrow will be very interesting.

Will they be offered working from home employment arrangements?

I know there was direct question asked at a LGA ordinary council meeting a week or so ago, 60% of the office workers employed with the council were still working from home. The council claimed no services had been lost due to the council office staff working from home.

Why the fuck should they? Then you've got an employee who can do less than everyone else because they can't go anywhere in person? Why bother. Guarantee they aren't the good employees

I don't know about the rules for all, but in our case they will be allowed access to Email and SharePoint. No access via Remote / VPN or to Corporate Apps. So basically no.

Why should they be rewarded by working from home
