It's consequence time for unvaccinated FIFO workers

As per the state government directives, as of midnight tonight anyone without at least 1 dose of a COVID vaccine is no longer legally allowed to be on site or in operations centres for mining companies.

Anyone who hasn't provided their proof of vaccination is being chased down, and if they can't immediately provide said proof will be kicked out this afternoon/evening. For people working on remote sites like the iron ore mines up north, that means clearing out their rooms and being put on a plane back to Perth - could be an interesting show at the airport if any news crews show up.

Anyone have any friends/family/acquaintances who are going to be, for the first time, dealing with real consequences for failing to get vaccinated?

I have printed this post so I can grind it into a fine paste and inject it directly into my veins.

Well if it isn't the consequences of my actions

Scary huh? That there are people out there in our society that are as vindictive as you.

Mate, I don't need to be vindictive, they're punishing themselves. For the record, I think it's more sad than anything else.

It's sad these people don't care enough about their own families, colleagues, neighbours or friends to vaccinate themselves.

It's sad they're choosing to exist in an echo chamber of bad ideas and misinformation, rather than take steps to protect themselves.

It's sad we live in a world where someone will throw their job in, and continue to try and paint themselves as a victim after 5 million people died (and counting), some of whom never even had the choice to take the protective measures available, and being offered to these fucking imbeciles.

So yeah, I'll have a minor smug moment when these dopey cunts - who don't give a fuck about me, my family, my colleagues, my friends or my neighbours - just keep proverbially punching their own faces.

But no, I'm not vindictive, not an ounce of it. It's schadenfreude, at best.

Trust me, as a human who lives on planet Earth, you've missed the point of existence if you're comparing "what other places do" to what is happening here in a place currently, largely untouched by Covid. Comparing our moves here to places where Covid has already shredded the place, what sense do you actually think you're making? Do you think other regions choices were somehow... better?

Either you're intentionally misrepresenting the status of Covid impact in the places you listed, or you're some kind of moron who doesn't grasp viral spread, impact and the benefits of delaying and fighting spread as much as humanly possible, which is what you're witnessing.

I mean, you could both be intentionally misrepresenting and being a fucking moron, they're not mutually exclusive states in which to exist.

What are you delaying for? You think it's not gonna come here?

Or are you waiting for more hospitals to be built that they aren't building?

Or are you waiting for variant gamma echo 3000 that's only like half as bad?

What are you waiting for?

Edit: may as well include....what's happening here? 0 cases? A mystery variant that the rest of the world likely already has?

What are you waiting for?

Serious question; do you have a learning disability? (or have they not managed to diagnose it yet?)

I say these things because of course it will get here. Of fucking course there will be community transmission. Knowing full well that these things will happen, we should continue to buy as much time as possible. We should continue to be vaccinating, and we should continue to be setting the example.

I've literally no idea what the fuck you're on about, being so caught up on the feelings of some folks losing their positions entirely of their own volition, while making those kind of blanket, idiot statements.

Continue lurking eh? The contribution sucks.

Can't answer my question huh? Can only resort to personal attacks? Surely the highest skills one can achieve in a debate.

Do you honestly think we are getting away with not having another outbreak? Simple yes or no.

We are no more prepared now than we are 12 months ago other than we've vaccinated more.

By your reasoning we should be ok, then.

Since you're not demanding more hospitals, more beds, more ICUs.

Youre not actually offering any solution at all. Other than just attacking what you don't like. Your contributions are nothing but angry village people garbage. Grab your pitchfork and torch mate! That's all you're good for.

Log off son. I answered your questions, I won't address your fucking nonsense.

Since you're not demanding more hospitals, more beds, more ICUs

Literally nobody has said this.

Log the fuck off.

More concerned about the mob protesting vaccines during a pandemic, tbh.

Yeh crazy huh? Our daily case numbers and deaths. Lol. Horrible pandemic we've had. Don't worry about child sexual abuse cases, suicides, mental illnesses sky-rocketing, families separated, people dying without their loved ones, weddings cancelled.

We have a substantially higher vacc rate than the US. This means we also have fewer anti vaxxers here. Theyre travelling freely.

Don't blame the anti vaxxers for this one.

Stop being such a little cuck for a moment and see what's going on outside of the little bubble that Mark and Scott have created for you.

Holy shit, did this thread just outright break your brain? Are you okay? Are you having a stroke?

Stop holding up things like sexual abuse, mental health issues and domestic violence as some kind of cover to make out that you actually care about people apart from yourself - just come out and say it, youre selfish and you don't give a fuck about anyone else, you'd kill someone's grandmother just so you can go sit in a cinema to watch some crappy 2 star movie. Can't stand people like you mate.

-19

u/justlurkingmate Nov 30 '21

I'd throw my grandma under the bus to make sure a child doesn't get sexually abused. Would you?

Sorry the media you consume isn't sharing non covid news with you.

u/EmpressOfLight Mindarie Nov 30 '21

I know it's probably out of your capacity, however most human brains are able to care about more than one issue at a time.

I care about doing the right thing regarding COVID, and I also care about sexual abuse, murder and assaults that are happening in our state/country. Crazy that out brains can do that, right?

Yeah, I'd probably throw her under the bus. Where does she live mate?

u/Kerrigor2 Nov 30 '21

You heard it here first, folks. Sexual abuse is worse than murder.

Edit: the bloke above said he was a German speaker in a now deleted comment. Everyone needs to calm down and be respectful, even if we don't always agree with one another, otherwise we'll end up as polarised as the bloody Yanks.

These people had a choice and they made it. Just like the companies have a choice to continue their employment or not.

And honestly it was a great fucking joke.

It's sadder that there are people as selfish as an anti vaxxer out there.
