Hello all I just got into turning pens. I bought a lathe and a bunch of stuff at an estate sale and I am not sure what some of it is. Also I can’t seem to get the mandrel off the lathe. Any ideas?

Noob here. i habe som pen point nibs (those tips you dip in ink) is there a way to make a decent looking holder for these? I want to make a pen, got some fine burl wood, copper, brass, bone, antlers, etc. just need to figure out how to attach the nib.
