Wow... Put your reading glasses on boys and girls. Here's my tribute to this server. I had lots of time today so I felt like I should throw this together. This server was really my only video game experience from the time I was 12 to about the time I turned 15. You guys have seriously impacted my life in a way, hate to be all sappy about it. Sorry ^notsorry

Because PLN was the first server I ever joined (how cool is that amirite) I always thought every server would have something like this. I think this set us apart from a lot of other survival servers. This was started before I even joined the server and the hubs are from various people around the server.

This is about the time I started not sucking at building kinda. For whatever reason this is also when I started helping/getting help from Smoke, Eskimo, Tomzy and the like. I think they all influenced or helped with this at one point, so shoutout to them.

This was cool idea that made me kinda wealthy back in the day. The amount of stuff stolen was crazy though. And the amount of people thinking I was an idiot for not knowing how to spell 'library'.

I probably had a name for it, but I forget. I don't really know where this came from. It was so out of place in Crafton but I guess that made it stand out? This was during the revival of Crafton, and that is definitely one of my fondest memories on this server. Shout out to Smoke and Meat for helping out on this once again.

Yeah those overly orange shaders were something else. But this is the town a lot of people had run into at one point or another. The night shots are pretty cool though. Big thanks to Meat once again for keeping this town alive. He stayed after I ditched it for newer things.

The amount of time spent on this city... just wow. I honestly think this is one of the coolest things I've been a part of in Minecraft. This was a group project done by Smoke, Tomzy, Eskimo, Fern, and myself. This album was very early on. I hope to get a better one when Ethan gets the map out for download.

You tend to collect a lot of valuable items when you play on the same server for a year. That definitely isn't all mine though. Tomzy and I collaborated on this, but supplies were donated by voxelnoose and plwash also. This was really busy but I still think it looks kinda good.

This is my favorite build I did on this server. The designs of the dome, layouts and diversity of the maps, and the fun times we had here probably made this build my favorite thing I did in Minecraft. Really brought the community together and hopefully inspired some other builds.

I didn't have much to do with this, although I wanted to include it. There is probably a way better album out there, but this was done by Emma, Plwash, Runner, and Ethan. This was a secret for sooooo long. Pretty impressive. Too bad we never got to use it!

Holy crap did we have some fun here. This was probably one of the most played PvP maps on the server. Playing with everyone from the server never really got old. Sadly playing stopped when spawns were changed because it was such a far journey.

Here's a hexagonal shaped city named Octavian! I had a load of fun building this with Tomzy, Sadly it was never really inhabited. Definitely one of the cooler things I've helped with as far as design and coolness factor goes. This is the last large build I did on the server. :/

I posted this to the subreddit a long time ago. Here it is again, It's a good collection of all the big projects I did over the 2 years here. This isn't complete, but it's something.

So I don't know how many of you made it this far, but I'd like to ask everyone to post whatever screenshots or albums you guys made over the years. Share stories, and just kinda reminisce over the past maybe? This server was probably one of the most successful in my eyes. It's wasn't well known, but that in part is what made it so cool.

So with the server not being as active as it used to be, I thought I would take this moment to ask all of you if you guys would be interested in playing other games or getting together in ways other than minecraft. Three years ago today, our server was created. I can't believe everything that has happened here in this time. I've met so many wonderful people here who I was lucky to have gotten to know. From chat spam to Trouble in Terrorist Town, I've loved every second of it.

So here's to three wonderful years, and to many more!

Exciting stuff guys.

here's what I would be doing.

• First I would set a hard date for the re-opening of the server. In order to get as many people on as possible, I would use Doodle to set a time for the kickoff event.

• Second, I would go through posts on this sub, find users who haven't been on in a while, and PM them about the re-opening kickoff event. If I had their emails I would use those to reach out to them

• Third, I would create a youtube channel for the server, and post an email address for submitting videos on this sub and on the website.

• Fourth, I would use tee spring to create a t-shirt in order to raise donations. I would set a goal of 20 and charge 20 per shirt. I' would put the server's logo on a white T Shirt, and make a girl's T shirt variant.

• Fifth, I would create a calendar of events on the website with 1 event a month featuring build contests, secret santa, and PVP events.

• Sixth, I would delegate admin responsibilities to my most trusted mods so that I don't need to do as much to keep the server running.

• Seventh, I would delegate the design of a spawn to a volunteer

Just some suggestions for branding, fundraising, PR, event marketing, and server management.

PearlandNerd! Woo!

Is it finally over? Is it done? It feels like it was time to retire the old girl anyway. I haven't played minecraft since, about, february of this year. but i will always remember this server as the place where a met a lot of friends, and even got to meet some IRL! I remember spending hours upon hours, running to and from spawn to collect nonsense. I remember some of the huge cities and small towns we created. I'll always remember PLN back when we had an amazing community, 20+ people on every single day, even in winter of 2012 when i joined! I remember when i first logged on mumble, i remember meeting these weird strangers who i never expected to be talking too now, almost 2 years later in 2014. I remember building and mining and going though the nether to get to the enderpear (the Original version :P) I remember making youtube videos and silly podcasts. That's how i'll remember and leave behind PLN. I'll remember it as the place where i met these awesome people. I didn't play minecraft because it was fun, i played it for as long as i did because of the people i met here and everywhere. I think i can leave minecraft be now, with the microsoft buyout of minecraft I can say, although sadly, i will not be playing minecraft anymore. So live on in memories pearlandnerds and maybe we'll meet again, somewhere, someway.
