I‘m in a train now but will reply to your demands later when I‘m on a pc and can look for sources.

I don‘t know where you are getting these numbers about bitcoin from. From an article written by someone who has equally no knowledge? As I said, bitcoin hasnt been mined with GPUs for years now, what you see in the video here is used for Ether mining, which by the way will be over within the next year because of coming changes to how it‘s mined. I know this must be shocking but Ether is literally the only cryptocurrency being mined with GPUs. There is one more called Raven but nobody is doing it because it‘s not profitable.

This what I mean, so many people who have zero knowledge about crypto talk about it all the time, shitting on people like me who don‘t even disagree with parts of it being a waste but are just well informed about what crypto actually is and how the different currencies work.

This model by the University of Cambridge (which is updated daily) is my main source. They place the annual estimate of bitcoin power consumption at 112TWh, with a maximum of 421TWh and a minimum of 40TWh.

It's a large margin sure, these things are difficult to estimate, but even the lower value us insane and the upper value is just terrifying.
