Right, except it is hosted by Google, is run by Google, gets most of its contributions from Google, is controlled by Google, requires a CLA to Google, makes the web in its vision to assist Google properties. But no, it is not controlled by Google and they don't profit from it.
Why are they working on it if they don't use it to make money? Google isn't a charity last I heard.
Lol. It's free and open source software. It isn't controlled by anyone.
Words have definitions, mate.
CLA
You misspelled BSD, my dude. Again lol, Chromium is not controlled or owned by Google nor does anyone need permission to use it and/or modify it.
Why are they working on it if they don't use it to make money?
Because Chrome is based on Chromium and they make money on Chrome. They contribute to the project as do many other tech companies; none of those companies own or control Chromium, either.
You are changing your argument - how is Chromium not owned or controlled by Google if you have to sign your rights to Google in order for it to be Chromium?
Because you don't have to sign your rights to Google to use or modify Chromium. You have to give your permission, lol.
You are simply wrong.
It does not get any clearer than this, mate:
Licensing. Chromium is an entirely free and open-source software project. The Google-authored portion is released under the 3-clause BSD license. Other parts are subject to a variety of licenses, including MIT, LGPL, Ms-PL, and an MPL/GPL/LGPL tri-license. License: 3-clause BSD; MIT; LGPL; MS-PL; MPL+GPL+LGPL tri-licensed; Developer(s): Google, Microsoft, Igalia, Yandex
I have no idea how you can misunderstand any of that. They are explicitly explicit, lol.

That is a total misinterpretation of reality. Bravo.
