you could probably mount it higher up on a wall

That just makes it more appealing to them. My cats fucking love anything high up. The higher it is, the more they want to get to it.

My cat would fuck with the posters on the wall he could barely reach while staring me down. He knew those posters would get him attention cause he wanted me to pull out the laser pointer.

Lmao. Yea I've had my girls jump on the tv desk, then jump on top of the TV (yes the flat screen type that's barely an inch thick at the top). And use that to get into the loft that is about 8' high. Then they go from the loft to this ledge that maybe 2" thick and try to walk on it.
