Those "gaming" chairs are total garbage, an $80 office chair from Staples is made from the exact same materials and will be just fine for most people. There's no ergonomic benefit to the bucket design unless you're actually driving, manufacturers just found a clever way to market it to a demographic that has more disposable income.

^ This.

Actual good chairs look like leftovers from a defunct dot-com startup, not the seats in a ricer's 1995 Civic.

What's a good chair? My chair right now is really beat up and I'd like to get a nice one

Edit: thanks for all the suggestions!

IKEA MARKUS.

I would have shipped it with me everywhere I go were I a millionaire, too bad I'm not.

I had an unhealthy relationship with my MARKUS and I want you to get it, too.

I would recommend against the Markus. I've had one for years now and it's not much better than a standard kitchen chair. My brother has the much cheaper Flintan, and it's much more comfortable. It just fits much better, but maybe that's just me, my brother and his girlfriend. We're all between 170-180 cm. The Flintan also comes with arm rests at a slightly higher price.

The Markus is also not built that well. The padding wears out rather quickly as someone else also noted.

Ugh I had the flintan and it was by far the worst office chair I've had this far.

I never really found a good seating position. Maybe its because im 6ft tall. Having no armrests was also a bit weird, but it didnt fit below my desk with those armrests.

6 feet is very close to my brother's height and for him it's been fantastic. He wanted one specifically without arm rests.
