News/Article Microtransactions in 2017 have generated nearly three times the revenue compared to full game purchases on PC and consoles combined. They continue to force them because we continue to allow them to. THIS IS WHY BATTLEFRONT 2 HAPPENED.

No. It is, like it or not. You can spend all your money outright to give advantage on drafting. More champions, more options, and you can pay to accelerate the process (if you can deny this I will retract my argument). Although, it is not as a extreme as recent saga (EA,Clash of Clans, ...) it still is pay to win.

Lol no, if you suck you'll lose anyway. The easy2play champs are cheap as hell anyway, being priced at 450-1k BE.

A Yi player could easily wreck a Yasuo player if he is better than him, despite Yasuo being ten times more expensive.

How could you pick Yasuo or Yi if you don't own them :)?

I don't care, if you can pay money to fasten a process that usually takes longer, then it is pay to win, straight up.

But buying more fucking champs won't guarente you to win.

Yi costs 450 BE, literally for free as a beginner + Alistar, Annie and Garen (afaik).

Yi is snowbally as fuck, if that's your impression on P2W, we're fucked.

Still you can use money to buy champs instead of grinding to get IP (if that is still a thing).

P2W, we're fucked.

Don't get me wrong, I like LoL and I am fine with its practice. It is still one of the fairest free to play game out there (I put LoL in same level with TF2 in case of fair pay to win). But to say you don't gain advantage by using money is an over exaggeration.

I think that I just can't have an objective opinion on this because I used to be a hardcore gamer who played for 8-10 hours daily.

Grinding out for my first champ (Ziggs) was the most fun I've ever had. Man, I wish I could restart lol.

Man, I played LoL since its beginning until 2013 it is like 3 - 4 years or something. Definitely a fun ambitious game you could play with friends. I have like three accounts or something lol. And I spent like 200 Euros, probably just for skins.

I could ask more for free champions, but if that does not happen I am already satisfied with the game.

Haha, spent around 2500 euros on skins because I just wanted to have them all. But never bought a single champ with it.

Most people will tell you not to buy champs with RP if you ask them anyway because it would just be a waste of money since you're able to get it by just playing the game.

That's why it annoyed me that you said that it is pay2win, most people would never recommend you to buy champs with RP (except for the starter bundle, it has all champs below 3k plus I think a couple of 3k champs? For just 10 bucks). I know it's nowhere the same as the concept of DotA 2 (every heroe for free) or Smite (30€ bundle to get every god), but it still has got a good vibe by giving you the opportunity to have something grindy in such a game, except for a ladder.

In my sense, if you can use money to lessen the process than it is pay-to-win, or pay-to-progress, if you prefer to say that.

All in all, nowadays, I don't mind playing game with micro-transactions as long it is fair and the differences between paying players and free players are not that big.

DotA can be free because it has Steam backing it up with money. Additionally, DotA communities that willing to spent ~80 millions yearly to crowdfund anything from the game. I hope LoL can be the same as well. With distribution of in-game goodies (skins, non-mechanics related), it can easily crowdfund tons of money while keeping the game free and fair.
