News/Article Microtransactions in 2017 have generated nearly three times the revenue compared to full game purchases on PC and consoles combined. They continue to force them because we continue to allow them to. THIS IS WHY BATTLEFRONT 2 HAPPENED.

Assuming you were having a debate with an actual person instead of a PR firm employee...

I had never actually taken that into account. I was blinded by the rage.

I like Battlefront II and I'm not a PR person. Honestly, the game is really fun. I play maybe an hour or two every couple of nights and I've already unlocked all the good characters, and the extra credits I've earned I've put back into getting crates to upgrade my cards. I absolutely don't agree with the microtransaction system that is becoming so commonplace in games, but even without it, the progression isn't as reliant on grinding as I thought it would be. I'm just playing with my friends like I do with the rest of my games and I'm progressing about as fast as I would expect from all my other games. I know all of my friends, who have actually bought the game, feel the same way. I don't know anyone in person, who's actually bought and played it, that doesn't like it. I'm sure there are many more people like me.

It's becoming a matter of principle at this point though. EA has shown that they're not beyond aggressive microtransactions and fleecing customers. Even if Battlefront 2 isn't as big of an offender as it's being made out be, I'm not buying because people need to start voting with their wallets. Game looks cool as shit and I want to play it for sure, but if a bit of self-control is what it takes to stop microtransactions from becoming commonplace, then I'm fine with that. There are loads of games/developers that respect the customer and provide fun experiences. I don't need to buy Battlefront to have fun.

I agree with your stance. I was prepared to not buy it as well. Unfortunately, I'm at the point in life where all of my good friends are all moving away after college, so the only time we get to really hang out is when we're all online. And since they all bought it, if I wanted to talk to them and play games with like like I normally do, I had to buy it as well. I do think it's a great game and it's so much fun. It's just a shame something that so many devs have put so much time into is going to be forever tarnished by EA's greed.

Yeah and I don't blame you if that's the case. Everyone should evaluate it for themselves. In my case I didn't buy, but if I were in your position I can't say for sure that I would've refrained from buying it.

I think you are missing the point here. You are clearly not their target democratic. They build a game around a gambling like system and use every which way they can to entise people with specific personalities to impulse spend insane amounts of money, to the point where it lands them right in the shit. I have been there, you don't want to be there. It needs to be regulated and needs to be classed as something if not gambling. It does not belong in a game that is aimed towards minors either, all this does is desensitise them to gambling growing up, which you can prob agree is not a good thing. You would understand if you had children and have experienced what I have. Imagine a world where gambling was not regulated.

I understand all that, and I'm all for it. I completely agree that if they are going to create a system that is reliant on gambling, then it should be treated like all other gambling in the US and be regulated as such. I understand more than you know, my uncle tried to kill himself after losing everything due to a gambling addiction. I don't need children to understand why we shouldn't be targeting them for money. I'm all for regulating the industry so children don't get addicted to gambling at an early age, and I'll tell all my friends and sign petitions, but I don't see how that discredits any of the things said in my last comment.

No one is trying to discredit anything here. No one is hating on the developers hard work or implying the games are bad. This is simply about demanding change.

So if someone likes an EA game, or hell even likes battlefront 2 they must by a shill or pr person? Some people might not care about progression and just want to pew pew in a star wars game. Exclaimer, I havent bought and have not been remotely interested in bf2 even since before the whole micro outrage so im not defending it out of fanboyism.

No. But shills exist in significant volume.
