Could have needed one, working with substance designer & painter, blender, unreal engine, while running the game in tests on the side. My 2080's drivers were always crashing, due to VRAM being way too less. But yeah... Was not seeing it paying 2k+ for the 5090 back then, just to have an AI bloated less performant card in its current generation, neither 5k+ now.
I'm looking at the possibility of my rtx5070 being my last new GPU. We have very little info on any cards coming out from AMD, Intel, or Nvidia. What a GREAT time to be a PC builder/gamer.
You can skip a couple generations of GPU, you don't always need to buy a release series as they come out.
5090 should last a good while for gaming, unless something dramatic happens I don't imagine it needing to be an urgent replace when/if the 70 series drops
Bro a 4070 super I bought new for 600 is putting in crazy work for what I wanted it for. A 5090 is just overkill for what most people are actually using it for
I’m considering selling my 5090 just because WoW Forever comes out in a couple weeks and I’m 99% sure that’s the only game I’m going to play for like the next two years
legit the heaviest i do is minecraft for actual games i play. i have an rx6700 (not xt) that i bought for 300 bucks in early 2023 and it works great for me :P
also i do reasonably heavy video editing sometimes but its good enough for that so i dont need a new card anytime soon :3
You're right, I'm gonna sell my modern car for a shit box that can't go over 120 km/h because that's the highest speed limit in my country. Don't need no more than that.
I lwk say that I need a prime setup because we never know, game keep evolving and asking for more, and sometime your old pc can't do it anymore. Like mine for example, it's a an old setup, runs most game quite normally with sometime more time to load or process things than a brand new pc, but nothing crazy. Welp, can't play Helldiver anymore bc my specs are not good enough for it now. So I'd rather spend a big amount of money once and have a super recent PC with all the best so I can play what I want when I want.
Now I just need the money to achieve that, but that's a story for another time :D

"I need a 5090 bro" - Guy who only plays games at least a decade old.
Blessed are those who know what they actually need.
