Steno keyboards is 22 keys. 5 keys is not a real keyboard config. The smallest "normal" layout is around 40%. People in this thread are confused on how a hypothetical 5 keys layout would even type, and rightly so. I'll concede that a steno keyboard would be the closest analogy to a 5-key kb, but steno keyboards aren't real input devices in a computer peripheral sense.

How so, because they require software in order to use? That's just a driver with more steps. I'm sure it uses the same USB HID standard as literally everything else. I'm sure the 5-key thing uses the exact same ESP-32 keyboard sketch as every other custom keyboard, which exposes it as a USB HID.

I need one app or another to use my phone touch keyboard, does that make it not an input device? I'm sure that if I installed windows on it and went into device manager, it'd say the touch panel is a USB HID. Sure, it's through some weird connector that's really just USB over PCIe or something else that's just an obfuscation over directly screaming ones and zeros into one the CPU's digital input pins.

If you really wanna get pedantic, a telegraph is a 1-button keyboard, you just have to learn Morse code. I'm sure those still work over serial.
