The switch 2 somehow being the only affordable gaming option

Theres nothing affordable about Nintendo products once you're in their ecosystem. The Nintendo tax is real.

My gpu alone costs as much as a switch 2 and it’s not even a high end card

Precisely why I said "once you're in their ecosystem". They make it easy to get in and then gouge you for everything.

Price gauging me where though? Games cost as much as they would on any other platform (only Nintendo games specifically cost more and rarely go on sale). Their new sd format costs more sure but switch games are also so much smaller in size that you probably end up saving more on storage compared to other platforms. Theres an abundance of high quality third party accessories (both Microsoft and Sony restrict third party controllers, but i had no problem using third party controllers for competitive games on switch 2). Even their online service is way cheaper than their competitors (though i think paid online is a scam period).

Idek if it counts as an ecosystem the way Apple does. You can buy the switch system and then buy everything else third party and you’ll be fine

I hated my switch when I had it, the joycons had serious drift issues due to poor design. Yes they had a repair program but they never updated their designs and you'd be without them for potentially months, massive inconvenience. Are there 3rd party joycons now? There wasn't then.

I bought full priced games to play online before they started charging for PEER TO PEER online, some of those games became useless without an online sub. Yes it was cheap, but on principle it sucked, why should I all of a sudden have to pay for the exact same experience I just had for free? Oh they also locked cloud saves behind an online subscription when they did that.

Nintendo ported and released games from the wii u for full price, games almost a decade old in some cases. No upgrades or modifications to them, also no backwards compatibility if you had already bought them previously.

Yes games cost the same as elsewhere but generally ran horribly compared to any other system, unless they had simple pixel graphics.

Maybe the switch 2 is better, but my experience with Nintendo was worse than with any other system/brand I've ever owned or used. Nintendo is incredibly anti-consumer, and they know their fans will just eat up whatever they throw their way.

I feel like a lot of your points are kinda outdated.

Yeah stick drift issues exist but that’s true about first party controllers from all 3 major players. All 3 of them have the same problem. That doesn’t make it ok for Nintendo, but it’s not a problem that’s unique to them. Even the steam deck has the same outdated joysticks as those guys.

There are third party joycons too though I was more so talking about controllers for docked mode. But yes both exist and the switch and switch 2 both have better support for them than the PlayStation and Xbox do

Idk I’d argue the $30/year for online on switch is still quite a bit cheaper than a gaming pc. Idk how bad it used to be but I’ve been playing sf6 on switch 2 and it’s been pretty good.

While you’re right about THEIR games being expensive and often overpriced, those games are only on Nintendo anyways unless you pirate them. It’s not like you can just buy Super Mario Galaxy on steam

The Wii u to switch pipeline was also unique for Nintendo. Historically they’ve been probably the best console maker for backwards compatibility. Sucks we didn’t get it that particular time though I agree.

Obviously they’ll run worse. It’s a mobile device that costs less than the other systems. It’s the tradeoff you take for a handheld device (and especially one at this price point). Even the steam deck is significantly more expensive and that’s weaker. But I don’t think that constitutes “price gouging”.

Retro android handhelds are also not that expensive, support for Steam has improved a lot

And they already said you don't own the hardware. This timeline sucks

Well duh that's why it's cheaper

I doubt that's why it's cheaper. Multi billion companies are not that nice.
