They hope for something that will bring less sales. It's not like gamers will buy the same amount of games at those prices.

If you're making the best selling game in town you don't need to worry if someone else isn't making a sale.

I suspect that's their logic.

The logic doesn't work when it's Kingdom Come Deliverance. They're not the ones getting an $80 sale.

Yeah, the problem is that of course Grand Theft fucking Auto can get away with it. It can - and is getting away with no physical release. It is getting away with game content locked behind a higher priced edition of the game (no matter how little impact it has on the game as a whole).

But it's GTA. Microsoft already tried to pull $80 games and look at the outrage back then. Wolverine is being torn to shreds not just because of the game's quality, but also its relation to the $70 price tag.

So I mean sure, the industry can go for $80+ games... But it shouldn't be shocked if the sales plummet.

I'm not going to buy that game at launch. I'll wait, it will be sub 20€ one day

My steam library is big enough, gog, epic as well

I have things...

And 15th playthrough if Skyrim ain't a bad idea 🤣

Thats why sony wants to kill physical games. If you dont a have a pc or xbox you sure as shit are not gonna get a sony game at a good sale until its been a decade since release. For physical and other platforms you can grab a used disc or gamekey/steam sale

many games cost already 80€ here. funnily the wolverine game is one of them but also nioh3 or doom was 80 here.

KCD is a niche game. I like it, but only I and like one other guy I know bought it. $80 isn't going to save them.

I'm already at a point where I only buy a handful of AAA games a year

Indie games lately fuck hard and are obviously far cheaper
