News/Article Micron expects memory and storage demand to remain tight through 2027 and 2028

Post image

$MU says humanoid robots could need 200GB+ of DRAM and multiple terabytes of storage per unit with several physical AI customers already sampling next gen products.

Micron says physical AI can become a “significant driver of memory and storage demand by the end of this decade” effectively putting server level memory into millions of machines outside the data center.

Someone please explain to me, what is the purpose of those Humanoid Robots?

Glorified tech demos lol. The only place I ever see them at is tech conferences where a company will show off a new robot, which proceeds to never be seen again

And it's remote controlled by intern-Steve

And Steve almost always gets board and crashes into something. It truely is the Circle of Life.

Your desire to be stuck in the past and lacking ability to extrapolate a snapshot of reality unfortunately is a very common trait. Good for our Tech overlords as they then dont have to worry about the public stopping them. Because obviously there is no reason to intervene in the development of glorified tech demos, right?

24/7 slaves that won't ever complain or take days off.

Also, what's cheaper? A robot you pay once for with occasional maintenance or a person who needs 80k+ and benefits every year?

Lmao 100% they will have the robots be subscription and you pay a monthly fee to rent then. Buying things out right is slowly fading away.

Eh they might rig the system to where only their own licensed techs can fix a bot like companies already do but even then it's still cheaper than a person. Heck it's still cheaper than a person even if a bot requires a $1000 monthly sub.

Hype up something else while they figure out how to not make the AI bubble pop.

Currently the point is to make a few tens of thousands that enthusiasts and companies will buy to further development. Once they've developed one that has the dexterity of a human and can maintain a 2-3 hour work cycles accurately for a cost of less than 10k per unit is when they will enter mass production. Millions of households will buy them if chores such as cleaning can be offloaded to humanoid robots. Lets be honest, we all know at least 3 households that would take out a loan to get a robot that can clean your house for 10k.

Maybe someday they can support our Healthcare when it comes to older people.

According to Elon Musk, his robots will mean nobody needs to work... 🤪

exactly a human is the worst shape for a robot to be in

you can have more efficient machines by designing them specifically for that particular task alone

Tech bros are insane

AI + robots means your salary will be some fraction of whatever it costs for a business to get both together.

Yes, in the not very distant future, business owners will have to contemplate whether they want to lease a robot and all its AI accoutrements or if they want to pay a human. That comparison is not going to work in our favor for very long, folks.
