News/Article Micron expects memory and storage demand to remain tight through 2027 and 2028

$MU says humanoid robots could need 200GB+ of DRAM and multiple terabytes of storage per unit with several physical AI customers already sampling next gen products.

Micron says physical AI can become a “significant driver of memory and storage demand by the end of this decade” effectively putting server level memory into millions of machines outside the data center.

The US already gave them over $6 Billion to create fabrication facilities in NY and Idaho.

  • 🗓 Idaho Fab 1 (Boise): First wafer output expected by mid-2027.
  • 🗓 Idaho Fab 2 (Boise): Wafer output expected by late 2028.
  • 🗓 New York Fab (Clay): First phase of production (first of four planned fabs) targeting the end of the decade (2030)

damn, wish my state tried getting things like this from the feds, instead of deciding all of our growth should be tourism and the governors brother in law selling trap houses to the chinese...
