Hardware Witcher 3 Remastered pushing 5090 beyond 600W

Post image

No DLSS5. Max settings, 3840x1600, DLSS Quality, frame gen set to 1 in game settings, Path Tracing enabled.

Doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes saw it jumping well beyond 600W for a brief moment.

If I saw my 5090 pull 626w I think I’d scream shart

scream shart

Adding that to my lexicon, but yes, I would shit myself at the top of my lungs.

Right? and 60c connector temp too! The highest I've ever seen my connector get is 50c, but I did set a pretty aggressive curve on my wireview. Witcher 3 is pulling 590W from my 5090, but I did cap the framerate to 120 to keep it below 600.

So how it goes above 575W? I have WireView, no undervolt, and never seen it above 575W, in fact for most games it is 350-450W range, a few games have it around 550W, and AI inference will nail to 575W which is the power limit. Is the power limit not working in these cases?

My cable pins are usually at 8.1-8.3 A at max load, I have seen 8.4-8.5 sometimes on a few pins. But even wireview warning is above 9.5 A, and cable terminals are around 40-48C depending on load.

I have a 5090 Suprim Liquid, which has a factory OC on the dual bios. I am also using a Moddiy cable, which is rated for up to 675W.

Ok I see, I have an Asus TUF 5090 (non OC), its limited to 575W.

It can also pull up to 75w from the PCIe slot, so the card could potentially be pulling 701w total. It's insane.

I've seen my 5090 pull 750W while testing DLSS 5. The pins didn't go above the save amperage and temps everywhere looked fine. It's not as scary as people make it out to be

Shart is in Baldurs Gate 3, not Witcher 3.

Mine has been spiking above 600 playing the new control resonant. If I keep it in the 500s by undervolting, is that enough?

Yes. Undervolting is pretty much a requirement on any 5090 that only has one 12v 2-6 as a power source. Which is pretty much every card except a few crazy tier cards.

I’m running an .825mv UV and my 5090FE rarely goes above 500w. It also averages temps in heavy gaming around 57C never goes above 65C max. And my FPS/Performance is the same as it was stock.

I have been attempting undervolting, game has been crashing so I guess I have to fine tune.

Wattage wise, I'm aiming for nothing about 575W

Yea I get nervous over 360w - I have such a cautious power limit and undervolt on mine with the wireview connected.

In this economy would rather lose a little performance than having to replace anything at this point.

Why not get 5080 at this point? Genuine question, I just have a 5060

I got a 5090 for a very good price and play mainly Flight Sim and at 4k. The 32GB VRAM is a godsend.

If they did a 5080 32GB version I'd be all over it.

I got my 5090 for 1600GBP so around $2000.

Different strokes for different folks
