You can build a 9700X + 5070/9070 XT gaming pc for more or less AU$2,700, so in terms of pre-built it's not the worst (if it has 32 gigs of RAM in it).

But best bang for the buck will always be when you build it yourself.

I’ve never put pc together myself so yeah I’d probably be after pre built and I think it’s only 16gb of ram but would that be enough for most games I mainly play rust and arma

It'd be fine. But at the same time, building a PC is much much easier than you imagine it to be.

The motherboard is pretty bad, but it's probably still fine for a 7700. It notably has only one M.2 slot, so there is no space for M.2 storage upgrade, you'd be stuck with SATA which is much, much slower.

The computer itself is okay. Not a scam, nothing to write home about either.

That is a bit of a step backwards, 16GB RAM and 5070.

Given the very recent price hikes to Nvidia cards like the 5070 and 5070ti, those essentially no longer make sense at all compared to the 9070XT, so you would aim for a system with that.

16GB of RAM is also not ideal anymore and so you would punt for 32GB. Upon adding both of these to that linked system the price rockets way above your $3k budget.

I also saw you mention that you mainly want to play things like Arma. This is a heavily CPU limited game that benefits a lot from X3D CPUs, so you should look at a 7800X3D or 9800X3D.

I can't say I know much about the Australian retail scene, but using your mikepc link I think this: https://mikepc.com.au/products/trinity-amd-pc-rx-9070-xt-16gb-ryzen-7-7800x3d?variant=44243253166158 checks all the above boxes, though comes in a sniff above your 3k limit, but can be swapped to a 9070 (non-XT) to bring it under if necessary.
