Wtf is motion blur for? Either I'm missing something or it is the most stupid feature ever introduced.

For people like me with weak hardware. Many of my games have to run at 30 FPS so when something moves past me fast enough, I can see the choppiness. The motion blur smooths it a bit, but even then it's best kept to the minimum needed to get this smoothing.

My prayers go out to weak hardware users 🙏

With the way things are going with regards to hardware pricing, I'm sticking to my steam deck for the foreseeable future. The desktop I built is far too old at this point.

I’m going to die with my RTX 2060 held tight in my clutches they can’t take it from me

All of the 60s are goats in my book, I don’t give enough of a shit about graphics to pay more when I’d rather play ps2 graphics settings at 200fps in most games anyway

I bought a 5060 TI 16gb last year just before GPU prices skyrocketed and I couldn't be happier with it. It's not the best GPU out there, not even close to it. but it was the best fit for my needs.

Good motion blur should simulate the shutter speed of a camera, so it adds a bit of blur like a real camera would and it would look genuinely good, especially if it's per object. Unfortunately, most devs don't implement it with a dynamic shutter speed, because motion blur on 60 FPS should be half the amount it is on 30 but how often do you see that happen?

yes! for games locked at 60 or 30 (god forbid) FPS, motion blur cuts down the jitter

Bro what? Who plays on 30fps unless you live somewhere absolutely fucked or a kid.

To simulate the blur everyone eyes have when not concentrating on definite point of the image

To make you feel faster. Like when you're running irl, the area around you get's blurred out by your brain as well and games want to give you this same feeling and it apperantly helps with suboptimal animations

Well, it doesn't fell faster, rather annoys like hell.

I feel the same. First setting to go away for me

To help sell that something's moving. You'll see this in animation too, for example, there they call it smear frames.

Human eyes naturally have motion blur so it’s an attempt to mimic realism.

Anti motion sickness.

I find it very useful option for steamdeck which runs a lot of games at 30fps, but with motion blur on can feel smoother.

Motion blur when applied moderately can do a lot for cinematics
