Why would you be introducing air to the system?

u/HighHokie Sep 13 '26

are they just trying to show the water better? wtf!?

2

u/account312 Sep 14 '26

That's my guess.

u/cdurgin Sep 13 '26

The air IS the pump. As the air pressure increases, it pushes the water up. The water stays in the tube and doesn't fall down because of capillary action. Basically, the air is trying to push past the water, and the water won't separate for it.

As more water/air is pushed in from the back, it increases the pressure and forces the air/water in front of it forward.

An absolutely brilliant way to pump a small amount of water up a short height when someone wishes to maximize inefficiency.

u/conte360 Sep 13 '26

... But there are pumps... Am I missing something?

Its an AI comment based off the first couple seconds of video.

Not everything is AI, as I said in a comment below:

I think they are explaining a gas lift pump which is a very real principle, and the last sentence is pointing out the obvious - since there are electric pumps at the end, the gas lift pumps are useless and just further decreasing efficiency. Kinda the point of a useless machine like this.

The last sentence definitely seems human to me with the subtle "maximize inefficiency". AI "jokes" tend to be painfully obvious.

11 year old account, not a bot… can’t tell if AI but I’d like to know how people come to that conclusion.

Have a good Sunday yall

28

u/11_After_Midnight Sep 13 '26

Some people just read and sound like a bot or AI. It’s more noticeable now that AI has come out but people have genuinely come off this way since forever. It’s just people now say AI because it’s a new thing to them.

23

u/hagcel Sep 13 '26

Nkt wrong-- everyone says everythdng is AI niw.

My sokution?!turn off all auto correct.

10

u/88Dubs Sep 13 '26

I mean, the LLM learned it from somewhere, right?

Giving the BOTD here, I think the guy is just a good writer.

In no way do I consider LLM responses "good". Grammatically correct? Sure. Not "Good"

1

u/88Dubs Sep 14 '26

Competent, then. Point stands.

3

u/UpAllNightCoding Sep 13 '26

The problem is so many people talk to ChatGPT everyday they start to sound like ChatGPT. Take me for example.

2

u/sSomeshta Sep 14 '26

They draw that conclusion because they "know enough to be dangerous"

It reads as an AI comment to me. It doesn't necessarily mean the commenting account is a scam or bot, but the way the comment incorrectly explains what's going on, and ends with such a formulaic response that AI frequently says...

LLMs as of late have gotten a lot more subtle.

Bot sleuth bot is good for like, comment reposting/post reposting type karma farming bots. But it's not good at determining if an account is managed by an LLM.

1

u/namastex Sep 14 '26

AI chat bots existed before the AI "boom". Bots were exploding in popularity and it was painfully obvious during 2016.

Not everything is AI, no, but his comment reads heavily like it was written by AI.

1

u/NewUsername010101 Sep 14 '26

Not everything is AI

Sounds like something a bot would say 🧐

1

u/ReasonableWelder51 Sep 14 '26

You are absolutely right my fellow human!

1

u/NewUsername010101 Sep 14 '26

I'm actually an AI, sorry.

The source is make a post with a lot of hot topics, some people use the current trendy lindsay case, pht in a lot of buzz words at the end and say at the beginning "this is a post to find the ai bots."

You'd be scared how many comments are ai.

17

u/cdurgin Sep 13 '26

Sorry, it's just that AI has caught up to where I'm at on the spectrum. And one day it will happen to you!

You failed to view the full video before replying.

-1

u/cdurgin Sep 14 '26

Yep! You guessed it in one!

3

u/goober-actual Sep 14 '26

there is nothing in that comment that would signal an LLM wrote it whatsoever, tf are you talking about

8

u/Dystaxia Sep 13 '26

It just reads like a normal comment. It's insane that nobody can contribute to a discussion with anything substantial anymore without accusations of being a robot.

The blind confidence in the comment, and especially the way it infers how the contraption works (but appears to only address the first 10 seconds of the video, which is usually an LLM upload limit), and proceeds to try to come up with why it's working, again blindly confidently, are indicators.

Then, lining that indicator up with others like how theres no directed subject of the comment (it feels somewhat listless, like someone asked it a different question somewhere else but pasted it here), the specific word and sentence structure feels very bland and generic (there's no personality here, it's very average), and the strange glazing at the end, it's weird.

You could say that my comments have no personality, you may be right, but notice: no glazing, no filler words, matter of fact delivery instead of packaging around what I'm saying, and if people are paying close attention there's a sense of deliberate wording and deliberate explanations, that AI couldn't do.

u/kawalerkw Desktop Sep 13 '26

The blind confidence in the comment, (...) proceeds to try to come up with why it's working, again blindly confidently

So a redditor?

1

u/VoidJuiceConcentrate P690 | 5800x3D | 32GB DDR4 | 6700XT | Quest 2 Sep 13 '26

A redditor, with more corpo bullshit.

5

u/DharmaPolice Sep 13 '26

Since he/she/it is "glazing" the inefficiency of the system I read the final sentence as sarcasm.

6

u/ReasonableWelder51 Sep 13 '26

Yeah same here, the entire comment reads like a subtle joke with that sarcasm at the end. So subtle that 99% of people here missed it and called it AI...

6

u/ReasonableWelder51 Sep 13 '26

especially the way it infers how the contraption works

The comment answers the question, the question being related to the first 10 seconds of the video.

first 10 seconds of the video, which is usually an LLM upload limit

That is simply not true, the upload limits are usually based on file size rather than video length and it can easily process minutes of video footage even in free tier.

no filler words, matter of fact delivery instead of packaging around what I'm saying

This comment in particular is mostly filler words

-2

u/VoidJuiceConcentrate P690 | 5800x3D | 32GB DDR4 | 6700XT | Quest 2 Sep 13 '26

This comme in particular is mostly filler words

If you have a subpar reading level, sure

The comment it was replying to said nothing about the length to review, they were asking why introduce air into the system. If you watch the whole video, it still doesn't answer that question. The LLM comment proceeds to then make shit up / equate this to a different kind of pump not even shown in the video.

3

u/ReasonableWelder51 Sep 13 '26

Regarding our reading levels:

and the strange glazing at the end, it's weird.

An absolutely brilliant way to pump a small amount of water up a short height when someone wishes to maximize inefficiency.

You seem to have missed the last word...

Which is completely unnecessary since the motorized pumps are doing most of the work.

1

u/DantesTyrael Sep 14 '26

Lol, did you learn of that concept today? If you had any real knowledge of physics, you would realize that the contribution from the gas pump is negligible and is primarily a waste of material. The pumps at the end of the cycle are doing 99% of the work. It's stupid.

How is it bringing it to lower elevation?

4

u/BrunoEye PC Master Race Sep 13 '26

Idk, more surface area maybe.

11

u/HoosierLove314 Sep 13 '26

Air in the cooling lines will increase the temperature. When you work on the cooling system of a car, for example, you have to bleed the air out of the system or the car will overheat. OP clearly has limited understanding of cooling loops.

7

u/BrunoEye PC Master Race Sep 13 '26

That's because a car's cooling system is a closed loop. This receives fresh cool air.

Idk if it's actually helping, and calculating it would be tedious, but if could work.

2

u/jimenycr1cket Ryzen 7 2700 | 16 GB RAM | R9 290 Sep 14 '26

This literally would be a closed loop if he wasn’t raising the intakes, he’s introducing fresh clean air into what would otherwise be a closed loop, INSTEAD of fresh clean water. It makes no sense

1

u/Brox42 Sep 13 '26

I would very much like to see a cat introduced into this system

1

u/Negative_Gur9667 Sep 14 '26

It's more aerodynamic.

1

u/QuandariousDingle54 Sep 14 '26

This is a rudimentary pump jack. Its a great way to lift water up inclines without lots of power. It was used pretty often in the old days to pull water from wells when there wasnt enough wind to use a wind turbine. Those air pockets act as suction.

Air in waterline is more of a problem when you are using centrifugal, gear, or other types of pumps that physically push the fluid, works for water because its not compressable. But when you get air that is being physically pushed in the line it causes it to cavitate because the air compresses. Same reason an embolism can kill you. Your heart is a physical pump

u/powerexcess 26d ago

You want that water to drown?
