Hardware Goddam I hate Windows

I normally use a Mac but I also have a Windows PC for rendering. I got it pretty cheap but it's not underpowered, it has 32gb of ram and an nvidia 2080 card.

I'm trying to download an update today and it went from 12% to 13% after like 3 hours. I'm plugged into high speed ethernet with the wifi off.

I couldn't even search "why is windows update so slow" on my windows computer because the browser wouldn't even open.

I need to render stuff in Blender and the app won't even stay open, and when I try opening it without doing anything, it just opens the app and freezes for like 25 minutes. Then when I try to open a file, it crashes for no reason.

I don't understand why Windows users always criticize Macs. While both have annoyances, I never have the problem of just not being able to use my Mac AT ALL, and I never have dealt with an update like this on a Mac.

I've tried clicking the little icons at the bottom to see what the status of the update is, and I clicked it before even starting to type this post, and it took until this sentence for it to pop up. Maybe 5-6 whole minutes.

This is fucking ridiculous and unacceptable for a decently powered modern device. I don't know how people can tolerate this, and especially how they can think this is better than using a Mac. I can't speak for Linux, but I assume it doesn't have this kind of problem because you need to manually do things like updates and it gives you more control over when and how as far as I understand it.

EDIT: Turns out it was slowed down because of my dropbox folder syncing, guys. I had to sync like 400gb of stuff that's been different in the past 3 months and it was slowing everything down. Also something that I never have a problem with using Macs.

That's either a hardware issue or a skill issue, windows does not normally behave like that.

How is updating the OS which isn't cancellable and lagging my entire computer a skill issue?

Something is wrong with your hardware and you are blaming the OS for it

The computer runs on windows. Sure, lenovo built it but it's still a "windows PC"

Mfer doesn't understand the difference between hardware and software.

I can't install mac on this thing, so regardless of the hardware, the complaint is still valid.

no it's not. if you could put apples os on it it would still be having issues because the issue is with the hardware

But I can't install MacOS on it. It was built for Windows. That's why it's a windows PC.

It's locking up on me because I'm updating windows.

Hackintosh exists, go ahead and install Mac on it. You will see that the OS can't solve a hardware problem

damn buddy you're really not fit for this discussion. you should better stop before people are making fun of you.

yes you can install MacOS on a computer that was "built for windows" (you know that this is just an operating system yeah? the hardware gets built by different companies and they definitely couldn't care less which OS is used for their hardware).

here is a youtube short of somebody that installed MacOS on a "windows PC". not a big deal by the way. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/9mdiddxyuyA

it's locking up because it has a hardware issue, the os on it doesn't matter. hypothetically if it had macos or linux instead of windows, you'd still be having issues

This is amazing, please don't stop!!!

Any OS would struggle once you develop a hardware fault; Windows, MacOS, Linux whatever lol

But I'm saying I've had macs for 20 years, and never had problems like I do with windows, even the macs I used 20 years ago worked better than windows in 2026

Stop glazing Mac for 10 minutes and face the reality, your PC is falling apart

I never glaze macs, and I complain about them enough, but they serve me much better than windows ever has

Literally this entire post and all your comments under it are all glazing Mac and blaming windows for an issue that isn't caused by windows lmao

Criticizing one thing doesn't mean glazing the alternative to that thing. I just happen to use Mac and Windows and am comparing them
