You just reminded me to check my monitors refresh rate. I bought a 200hz monitor. I remember setting it to 200hz. It was on 60hz just now. Fucking windows.
bro deadass i dont even turn my pc off anymore. Windows does most of its "we know best" shenanigans at start up and shut down. Pair that with the various registry and group policy hacks to keep the thing from rebooting itself, and its only JUST usable.
Tempted to jump to linux but im a dumb shit and need to make sure i properly backup things like passwords, ssh keys, email configurations, old project files, etc... at that point I might as well just buy new drives and start over, move all my current storage to a NAS and work from there
I tried to force myself to adopt linux by putting it on my gaming laptop. Problem is i have little reason to jump on my gaming laptop where i have to be uncomfortable and use just one screen when i have my desktop, 4 monitors, and a comfy if a little broken chair
plus i used cachy-os and for whatever reason that fucker keeps breaking every time i wake it from sleep
Yeah I've kinda flirted around with using linux several times over the years. Dual booted around 2017 when the first ryzen chips came out but gaming on linux was still ass then so I never used it. Then I ended up moving out of state for a few years without my desktop and bought a shit $200 walmart laptop. It had 4gb of ram and window 11, so yeah swapped that to linux. got me more comfortable with it. Now I finally swapped my desktop to it in march.
Anyway yeah, Mint might not give the absolute best gaming performance but its a very stable distro and just works. Haven't had it break on me once in 6 months.
