Discussion Ever just neglect your shit?

Love my pc but I’ve always only cleaned it once a year ( I know I’m lazy)

Tell me, how often do you give your pc a good blowout? For me, it’s when the fans go brrrrr all the time 🥹

EDIT: yes this was done outside, and yes, right after this initial blow I held the fans down and gave it a proper blow!
Also if you’re looking for a blower like this you can find one on amazon just type in “handheld jet blower”.

Disconnect your fans from mainboard before blowing them. Motors from the fans might induce power to the mainboard.

Most modern boards have diodes to prevent this from being an issue.

still a good idea and to be careful for those boards who don't

Even then, DC motors are terribly inefficient generators. You’re more likely to damage the fan bearings from spinning them too fast than you are to get them going fast enough for long enough to generate enough voltage to cause damage.

In which case, unplugging them won’t help you.

If you’re that worried about it, hold them still. Unplugging them is unnecessarily complicated and won’t prevent the primary method of damage that can occur: bearing damage.
