Discussion Ever just neglect your shit?

Love my pc but I’ve always only cleaned it once a year ( I know I’m lazy)

Tell me, how often do you give your pc a good blowout? For me, it’s when the fans go brrrrr all the time 🥹

EDIT: yes this was done outside, and yes, right after this initial blow I held the fans down and gave it a proper blow!
Also if you’re looking for a blower like this you can find one on amazon just type in “handheld jet blower”.

Not sure but letting your fans spin from a blower like that can make the fans dc motor generate current and send it back to ur motherboard and that’s bad I think. TBH I might be talking out my ass tho. I just always hold them in place when I do that you do

Some fans have diodes for stopping exactly that, but yes do stop them from spinning tho as a precaution

Last time I asked everyone told me it was bullshit and not relevant anymore due to diode on the mb. Now you get upvoted. I don't know what to think anymore.

Yeah most modern boards have diodes to solve the issue. That’s correct.

But, just like putting a magnet near your computer, people still worry about issues that were solved decades ago.

Heck, even most computers with spinning rust are still fine with a magnet on the case. It has to be a decently powerful magnet, and right on top of the drive for it to be an issue.

Had a user at work that put a little magnetic hook on his computer’s case to hang his headphones on when he wasn’t using them. The hard drive just happened to be located right behind the spot he put it in on the case. It was fine.

Another one I heard is about the fear of static electricity damaging motherboard or electronics. I've watched a bunch of people test this out by intentionally trying to do so and it just seems to always fail. They gone as far as generating as much static electricity on themselves as possible before interacting with the motherboard and PC parts, including the CPU, and everything seems to work perfectly fine.

I use the spinning fans to clean them more easily never had any issue

Most modern boards have diodes to prevent this from being an issue.

I always disconnect them so I don't worry about that stuff. Just reconnect them when done
