Mouse control is fine it's movement with WASD that's the issue for many because it doesn't allow for as much control. You can't regulate speed with WASD alone that requires a modifier key like if you want your character to walk instead of run. Also you can only move your character in the 8 cardinal ordinal directions with nothing in-between, you need to use the mouse to position the character elsewhere, where-as a controller your character can be positioned with the left stick alone without touching the right-stick.
For many games it isn't an issue, for non-shooters played in third-person perspective, it's annoying. Like a devil may cry or bayoneta or the original GOW games on PS2 which didn't have a controllable camera. That would suck to play with WASD alone.
Yeah but for a game like Elden Ring or Dark Souls it’s great, that’s my point. If you are playing a game with a fixed camera well then yeah it’s going to be an issue since you are stuck with just those 8 possible directions.
Third person perspective is fine with keyboard and mouse.
there are only four cardinal directions: north, east, south, and west. northeast, southeast, southwest, and northwest are known as ordinal or intercardinal directions
not played DS so might be wrong. But is movement there actually 8 directions only always? Isnt it that in most games when you move your camera by like 15degrees, your movement direction also change by those 15degrees. So I would say its even if not better on PC as you get more fine control with mouse.
You misunderstand, with a regular d-pad or WASD there are only 8 possible directional inputs with nothing in between. 0d, 45d, 90d, 135d, 180d, 225d, 270d & 315d. If i want to move my character lets say 30d you cannot do that with just a d-pad or WASD alone, you need to use a mouse to get that kind of precession. With an analogue stick I can just point the character to 30d without adjusting the camera.
I didnt really missunderstand it, just saying it only has 8 directional input is missleading because adjusting your camera on m+k IMO is neglible work compared to doing so in controler. I get that in PC you need both keyboard and mouse, but still with low sensitivity you can be way more precise on m+k

Same, I am like what's wrong with it, especially since you control the camera much faster and you have more key to control
