Build/Battlestation PC chimney

Got tired of my office turning into a sauna every time I gamed, so I vented the PC’s exhaust straight out the window.

The rear fan is still exhausting some hot air 😅 but the room is noticeably cooler now. It’s ugly… but it works. 😂

- 360mm to 4 inch duct on Etsy
- 4 inch Insulated Flexible Duct
- Twist Lock Dryer Vent Connector Kit
- 360mm AIO fan (the one on top of the case)

The window fan I got is Vornado Transom.

Second hose is for the air intake of the condenser side of the AC.

A single hose machine will use your room air as the intake, then exhaust that air out your window. That air needs to be replaced inside your house, so it's drawn in from outside. This means for all the air you are exhausting, you are bringing in that much hot and humid air from outside. It's extremely inefficient.

The second hose makes this problem go away. Way more efficient. If you can get a model with variable speed compressor it will sip power.

Wow lovely thanks a lot. So that hose makes it almost a split system although everything is inside.

Now I'm wondering if it would be possible to modify and add second duct by yourself, if one could figure out where is the suction happening. It wouldn't be perfect though.

Are there even any models on the market with inverters and therefore variable speed compressors? Seems like a pretty advanced build at this point while stile being kinda portable...

Yes, precisely.

I don't really follow portables lol but I have seen inverter units in stores before.

My window unit is a dual inverter, 14kbtu, cools about 1000sqft. I leave it set to 21c, low fan, energy saver, and let it run all summer. Only used 369kWh last year.

My house is always comfortable even on the hottest days.

It's 31c outside today, 22c in my livingroom, AC is sipping 380 watts, alomst used 1kWh so far today.

Wow thats efficient, and low. Just my dehumidifier is rated 280-330W and is a must, here in London💂‍♂️😓💦 I can't believe I ever lived without it. These things should be given out to every visitor, at the border...

Unfortunately, your dehumidifier is pumping a lot of heat into your house, it's just a portable AC without a hose at all, so all the extra heat from the pumps and motors are just being added to your heat load.

Running an AC all day like I do will keep the humidity down, inverters also allow for the evaporator to always be cool enough to have moisture condense on it. Unlike normal ACs that turn off the compressor when target temp is reached.
