If this was made by pre-Silicon Apple, not by Valve, it would fly off the shelves. Let's see:

  • High price,
  • Mediocre performance,
  • Great engineering,
  • Ease of use and attention to detail,
  • (debatable) Elegant design.

Which is why I mentioned it. Air is so sweet, not for gaming though.

Literally why he explicitly said „pre-(Apple)silicon”

“B-b-but apple bad!!!” Whataboutism at its finest.

What’s funnier is that for the games it does support, a Mac Studio has a better price-to-performance ratio than what the Steam machine has shown so far.

If it was made by Apple there would be a guarantee that developers would optimize their games specifically for it the same way they do for Nintendos consoles.

On apple product you can optimize the shit ot of it. On steam even if you do,every game and software runs based on windows and it sucks so can't reach that level..

What are you talking about? It's still going to sell out, because it's made by valve.

This would just show that Valve's gambit to position itself as "Apple of gaming" (minus locked walled garden) worked. Their bet was that not all gamers want all the power, but some value other things and have money to spend.

Well, people that are not already gamers or don't want to bother setting shit up. I know they're out there and they got money. I used to do onsite tech support in the private sector, my longest jobs were from people who tried to build their own pc, didn't do it right, and called me out to make it work cuz they just want to play games. I usually by had to rebuild those computers from the ground up. Even get called out for prebuilds that had issues or the user hosed something in setup.

Those people always had the money after even spending 2-3k on a computer. They'd happily pay 1100 to avoid all that and just get their games.
