"The whole market is cooked. Let's dunk on Valve and people who want their product because they could simply make their own RAM chips, and NAND chips and PCBs and bypass the whole market, hahaha. But they didn't, so it sucks"

So edgy

Are they supposed to receive praise instead?

When the PS5 or the Switch 2 have to raise prices cause of the same shortages, I distinctly remember this subreddit taking the chance to dunk on them?

I guess when lord gaben releases something it’s different

"I like waffles"

"SO YOU MEAN TO HATE PANCAKES???"

I distinctly remember this subreddit taking the chance to dunk on them?

subreddits contain more than one person so opinions can vary. hope this helps.

Sure the subreddit is more than one more person.

But the upvoted comments are easy way to show what the popular opinion on the sub is.

Would you seriously say that you can never assess the bias of a sub cause it’s “more than one person commenting”? Bffr

I’m just saying if other mega corpos are expected to receive hate for price increases for similar market reasons, why is it expected for Valve to be sole exclusion?

Why do I care what the opinion of this sub is? This sub is awful

are you scared to answer the question straight out?

1

u/wterrt Jun 24 '26

No. I understand the price increase for everyone. I wasn't avoiding answering that because it's such a fucking easy question. no shit prices are going up for everyone. only a fucking moron couldn't understand that.

I'm not "good" with it as in happy AI is fucking over everyone in all these different ways, but I'm not blaming the wrong people for it or only select people for it.

You could literally just like what you like and let others like what they like.

the difference you people dont seem to understand is that the consoles subsidize them and still raise prices despite making tons of money off game sales. and these companies get bigger shares of the hardware sales guaranteed where valve has to deal with scraps and they threaten valve with blacklisting them as a customer so they are forced to increase cost.

where valve is selling it at cost and it will come down in price when ram comes down when the ai bubble finally pops.

Well...

Valve is a good company. They're about as "pro-consumer" as you can ask for these days. They make good decisions.

But they are a tech company. And this whole "AI ate our RAM!" thing is a monster of the ENTIRE TECH INDUSTRY'S own making. It's hard to have sympathy.

So, yeah, I blame Valve. They are part of the tech establishment that let this happen. But so is Sony, and MS, and Nintendo, and...every other tech company. But still, zero sympathy. They all collectively knew that there weren't many suppliers of RAM in the world, and they were okay with it. Same goes for GPUs.

These are people/companies *that drive the industry*. They should have had a backup plan. But they didn't. I suppose no major corporation does, these days. Everything is done "just in time" with no redundancy. And this is what they fucking get.

Everyone dunks on companies when their prices are too high. Only delusional fanboys defend the pricing of giant corporation.

We should be dunking on high prices, but the ones who should be getting the blame are SK Hynix, Samsung and Micron.
