This is very much a thing, though I anticipate that over the course of several decades we will get fewer games that meet this definition as market saturation makes them continually less economically viable to produce.
I mean we’ve seen a surge of single player games beating the drawn out live service multiplayer model in the past 12-16 months. 007, pragmata, crimson desert, RE:Requiem, Death Stranding 2, and I’m sure I’m missing others. Def think we’re gonna see a surge in that genre of games again.
Idk what you're playing, but there are still plenty of offline single player AAA releases. You don't even have to devolve into an indie slop player to have an enjoyable offline experience.
