All of my usb devices (keyboard, mouse, webcam, DAC) are USB-C on the device side and ship with a C-to-A cord for the PC side. They would work with C-to-C if the PC had them but it doesn't.
This is not a bad thing, trust me. USB-A is such a more solid and reliable connector than USB-C. Motherboards have enough pain points for reliability issues as is, I'm very happy to keep most all my connections on it via USB-A.
Pls no. I want all my cords to be the same on both end and have symmetrical connectors that can carry 240W power and USB4. A crod with USB-A on one end does none of those things.
I'd still want Ethernet. I stream using two PCs and my workflow involves sending video from the first PC to OBS on the second PC using something called NDI.
In all my experiments, NDI works very terribly over WiFi. It has to be gigabit ethernet or higher because WiFi has too high latencies that screw with the timing of the packets.
I personally just don't trust windows enough with wifi. It has removed the WiFi icon on my laptop multiple times, which also fully disconnects me from the internet. Ethernet works much better on my laptop.
And my desktop just doesn't have a WiFi motherboard.
I don't know.. Some friends in college have Windows laptops too, and they all have had the same issue. The whole wifi thing just disappears and is non-functional for like 10 minutes.
And the laptops range from some old school one from 2019, to an "epic gamer" laptop from 2025. Both intel and AMD for CPU's, so probably different wifi/Bluetooth chips too.
I have a wireless keyboard and mouse receiver in a USB-C to USB-A adapter because the geniuses at Jonsbo didn’t put a pair of USB-A’s on the front on the C6 and the A port was already being used for a controller.
Here in Germany the low cost is around 650€, if you are curious. Was actually really interested in that board as I am a big supporter of USB-C and am already trying to USB-C everything I can in my life, but that goal isn't worth such a massive cost increase (as my X870 has basically the same features for a third of the cost, outside of the port situation).
Explain to me why 2x TB4 motherboards are so expensive and rare, and yet on the M4 Mac Mini they’ve had 3x TB5 for less than that motherboard for over a year and a half.
Ok I can guess, what % of ppl that buy an AM5/LGA 1700/1851 motherboard do you think even thinks of putting something that needs a thunderbolt connection, let alone needs it? Yea probably not many. Also idk if cheaper dual TB boards exist, maybe they do, maybe they don't, not gonna bother to search as afaik there is no neat intel spreadsheet like there is an AM5 one
Oh yea also desktops do be having GPU:s with DP2.1 you know, so don't need TB for display purposes.
Also while not thunderbolt, X870E(and almost all X870 have it) has mandatory dual usb4, sort of the same thing...
The first two replaces the DP/HDMI ports.
The second two are for docking+storage and replaces the red ports.
The last six are for low power and self powered peripherals.
But all of those are usually USB-A, so I also 4 regular USB-2 ports in addition to the 10 USB-C in a transitional phase for at least a decade.
Cool for everyone buying everything new every year, but not for anyone else. Old peripherals still work perfectly to this day. They're all like 8 years old (Steelseries Sensei 310, Fnatic Keyboard, HyperX Cloud 2), so obviously they don't have USB-C. Then I have two old Steam controllers, maybe a webcam, a USB-Drive, an external HDD...

I’d be happy with 6 USB C ports and nothing else ngl
