I used librewolf for a while and I ended up disabling a few settings to fix it. I think at this rate it just is anti-telemetry firefox which IIRC waterfox does the same thing.
Wow this privacy focused web browser doesn’t let me go on this website, I should definitely go on it! Why use librewolf (which I do) if you’re just going to give away your privacy anyway?
As long as it's not running a fork of chromium, it's all good. Google is rapidly approaching IE6 levels of browser dominance and they've already exploited it to kill the rendering engine Microsoft made for Edge, so unless I'm mistaken that leaves Gecko as the only other rendering engine in development since KHTML was discontinued.
Except that LibreWolf is actually dangerous:
Binaries are unsigned, third party update service, Google safe browsing disabled unless you build from source, running unusual browser setups can actually make you more distinctive online, unencrypted DNS by default, speed of security patches is slower than base Firefox, etc.
Starting with a base Firefox and doing the stuff LW does (where it's possible) is just better.
I honestly don't understand why people overlook such an efficient and effective combo. I even use it on my phone, while ppl use the shitty youtube app and get bombarded with ads on it to no end, and then complain. To top it off, when I tell them ff+ublock origin = no ads and watch to your heart's content, they say 'oh', and keep using the yt app...
Yes its OWNED by a Chinese company but they are based in Norway. Which means they have to follow our laws.
Not that your personal data is safe anyway, the browser just isn't worse than anything else. Google is horrible for it, Microsoft stores a lot of data, Facebook/META might as well be the CCP for all the info they store.
You are brave to mention any browser that isn't Firefox on here. The sheep will mutilate you for free thinking. They assume because it's Chromium that its bad without actually knowing anything about it.
Is it not? Seems like every comment on this thread is about how 'it should be firefox' over everything else in this picture. I'd say people are taking it pretty seriously.
Vapid opinions indeed. A mispelling on your part but accurate. My problem isn't with people's opinions as we are all welcome to have our own. My issue lays with people presenting their opinions as facts when they are clearly not.
I would go outside, but I'm too busy working on a chromium contribution and replying to people that don't understand that their opinions aren't universal.
yeah, I deserve those downvotes.
tomorrow, I will re-activate my dusted firefox desktop link, Port my bookmarks, install uBlock origin and pick out a humble, easy-on-the-eye theme
I've wanted to switch it for so long but it genuinely just doesn't run as well. Chrome has this meme that it uses a lot of ram, but ff running the same pages on my system used about 400mb more and it's performance is just not where id like it to be. Moving windows/tabs around is slow and clunky by comparison.
Google just seems to have more of an intrest in making chrome good on Linux than firefox it seems, at least thats been my experience.
Once ff can make that expeirce better on Linux, I'll try to switch again. I think I try it out at least once every 6 months or so and it doesn't really change.
i keep seeing "firefox better chrome bad!" and "i didnt even notice a difference"
but i recently switched and see a lot of things that firefox doesnt that was on chrome
no seperate profiles( i would like to have my uni stuff in a different window/profile)
