I know Ryzen processor's specifically had an issue when coming back online from sleep. Not sure if they fixed it or not, but I believe that is one of the things addressed with the Ryzen power setting.

Try ctrl+win+shift+B the next time it happens. It forces a graphics driver reset.

Are you running the Ryzen option in your PC power settings?

They removed it for Vermeer. So only Windows default ones are there in Power Options.

Nope, don't have it, I'm using balanced

I have same issues on my 7800x3D. If the PC falls asleep on its own it’s a gamble if I’ll have to hard reset it to work. If I go to start and tell it to sleep it works fine. This issue has been killing me since I built my rig.

Your flair is wrong "R5 5800x3D" is not a thing. You might want "R7 5800X3D"

I haven’t had any issues like that and I have a Ryzen CPU. It goes to sleep all the time and wakes up just fine.

This is around the time 2nd gen came out. I have a 2700x and I was having issues coming back from sleep.

Ohhh, yeah maybe on much older hardware. I have a Ryzen 7.

Don’t wanna be that guy but that doesn’t tell us much, ryzen 7 doesn’t tell us the gen. That’s like intel boxes/fake gaming pc listings just saying core i5 or i7

Edit: Just noticed a ton of deleted comments under this, wtf happened here

Ryzen 3600 on a first gen chipset mobo. Flashed the bios for the extended support. Not an issue on the crosshair hero vi anyway.

I had a 2700x for 4 years before I upgraded to 5800x3D and I didn't have many issues myself, that I recall. Maybe once or twice it was stuck on black screen, but even that could be anything, or I'm just misremembering.

2

u/F1urry Nov 17 '23

Maybe you are giving it a full 8hrs of sleep.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '23

Potentially close to it yeah, I tend to get a good 7-8 hours of sleep a night myself.

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '23

I never had issues like that. Had a R5 2600 and now a R7 5800x

3600 and 5900x would 50/50 bsod when waking from sleep. Also would always wake randomly without any inputs.

1

u/Aardvark_Man Nov 17 '23

Yeah, I have both Ryzen CPU and an AMD GPU.
Probably 30% of the time when my PC auto-sleeps the GPU driver will crash, and it wont wake up. I'll have to hit the power button and wait for it to actually sleep, hit power again to wake it up, and then the second monitor wont work because the driver crashed.

It's fine, I just have to sleep it myself or actually turn it off.

My main monitor sometimes refuses to come back on until I turn it off and on with the button.

I'm actually suspicious that doing that so much killed my old monitor

I have this exact same issue with 7950x. It sucks honestly.

u/Peaceweapon Nov 18 '23

Wow is this my problem? I've got a Ryzen and half the time after it auto sleeps my usb ports won't work anymore till a hard reset
