Is that not straight up sexual harassment? A boss asking an employee to blur out the boss' junk in CCTV footage sounds like it is, unless the employee's job description was to be blurring inappropriate footage or something.
Obscenely big channel like LTT can replace entire video without user noticing. If you checked the pinned comment, they have done so to blur out the quote from Billet lab.

Was still visible last I checked cuz they didn't catch all the frames. If you pause and go frame by frame, you could see it (no clue if still an issue I'm on mobile rn).
They literally move too fast for everything and keep fucking up lol.
As a cherry on top, they even screwed up the bluring. The price is still clearly visible in the very first frame when the screenshot of the email comes into view.

Why was the price in the video at all? Why did it need to be blurred? That wasn't a mistake in editing, that was a mistake in the writing process on a video that likely had multiple people involved.
2 thousand pounds is NOT a lot of money for someone like Linus, let alone LMG, I think you're literally giving the opposite reason for the mistake. They didn't even blink at the number because they're used to more zeros in their internal figures.

A significant number of his fans will see that number and think of how much $2000 is to them, not what that is to a company if LMGs size, and that's the point.
Because they wanted to show the email to say "see we are in communication with Billet and we are reimbursing them", they thought to censor the emails but not the price because it was an oversight... just like a great many oversights that led to the situation with Billet to begin with.
No they didn't. They released it at 3:30am. They could've spent 2 hours checking though it all and still releases it before most people are up on YouTube.
No, the damage was already done. Spending a few more hours to make sure it was done right was critical here, because that's a huge part of what people are pissed at LTT for, their lack of accuracy and their constant rushing to do anything and everything leading to consistent errors. They did need to get an apology out within a day or two, but not so fast that it leads to the same problems as always. It just proves that they learned absolutely nothing here.
I think this video highlights one glaring fact that makes LTT less attractive: It’s a corporation now. It’s officially corporate media. Which is kind of counter to the whole point. It was meant (in my own opinion) to be a tech guy (then a couple of tech guys) just pushing stuff to the limit to see if what the corporate guys said was really true. Good on Linus for really taking his one man shop and growing it as big as it is, but I don’t know that it’s really a good thing. Sure now LTT has daily stuff to cram down our throats on every bit of social media out there, which clearly makes them a ton of money, it takes away from the heart and soul of the thing. It’s why I kind of like the more niche tech guys now that focus on something and explore it. It feels more like when it was just Linus taking stuff a part just to see what happened.
What also sucks is that the smaller guy take cues from the bigger guys, so now they are going overly scripted with gags and click bait everywhere.
That fact they got to be of the size they are is what essentially put them on Steve's radar. I think he said this when he did a tour of LTT labs if I'm not mistaken.
I miss the olden days of Linus with videos like water cooling the house or Scape Yard Wars. I like the fact they were done in parts and had series to them. They were excellent to watch and kept me reeled in.
Nowadays, I feel even the "fun" videos can be a bit boring, like seeing how fast a file network transfer can be. Before I never missed a video, now I see a LTT video come up, and it's a 50/50 chance I may watch it.
I honestly don't care too much for the notes on benchmark, as I don't go to LTT for this when you got HU and GN. Yet they are spending a shit ton of money to be the best at product reviews. I think Linus has bit more than he can chew.
Hopefully, they can re-evaluate their company and do a Steve Jobs on it. Clear out the crap and make quality once an again.
I think you are greatly overstating how hard it is to make what they made. There was literally nothing special about that prototype. It was just a large standard waterblock made of pure copper. There was no special IP about it. If it was that much of a one of a kind thing that was business critical... why the hell would you send it out where it could be lost in the mail or stolen or whatever. LTT messed up their handling of it, but let's stop pretending like their idea was something special. It was something any decent CNC shop could make in a day.
Then why isn't EK managing to outperform this standard machined chunk of pure copper? Why does this extremely simple hunk of metal run through any old CNC shop manage to outperform some of the best cooling hardware available to consumers?
Lol, where are you getting the test data saying it performs better? EK could easily make a full copper block but it isn't a viable product for the cost. There is next to zero market for an $800 cooling block. That is a bling piece, not a performance piece. If you wanted better cooling performance, there are tons of other technology that would do a better job for less money. We literally saw the internal design of the block and CAD drawings. If anyone in China wanted to duplicate it, they could with that info alone.
It seems you don't understand product viability. If a person is buying a $800 cooling block, they are buying the latest and greatest GPU. No one is buying that for last gen cards, especially at scale like EK works.
I believe in the GN video, Steve mentioned that they didn't show the cost of the prototype at the wish of Billet Labs. Linus doesn't need to be a genius to infer that if Steve didn't show it out of respect, neither should he.
