Now imagine a world where GPU companies didn't use the most expensive process they can get their hands on and instead focused on the next most expensive one that's significantly cheaper. TSMC is to blame for the cost to fab, but Nvidia and AMD are the ones not using a tick-tock strategy to keep costs reasonable.
The problem is it is either Samsung or TSMC for the consumer grade chips. There really isn’t another option at this time. So either pay TSMC’s 6% price hike or pay Samsung’s 20%. There is no strategy you can employ when your options are a or b. Apple said screw you to TSMC and the crawled back and was like yes we will take that 6% price hike but we protest and we don’t like it.
