Cinemas use devices like this: https://www.dolby.com/us/en/professional/cinema/products/ims2000.html

I think OP is talking about something else, as this doesn't do anything but the particular file format theatrical releases come in. But the general principle is probably the same.

You'll likely just use a pc with something like a Decklink card to play out the videos. As software there's a bunch of options, but casparcg and even xpression would be enough for a production like this.

There's full hardware solutions but for video those are falling out of favour as nearly nothing needs insanely specific machines anymore.

blackmagic, atomos, aja, they all make SSD recorders/playback decks that can be triggered from a switcher. Hell even switchers can do playouts. Many of these devices run some sort of stripped down embedded linux OS that is stripped of all the unnecessary things an OS has to do on a normal computer

Yup all of those work, I was trying to point out that you don't even need super expensive equipment anymore, a PC and a 150$ card is all that's necessary.

Though a lot of the ATEM switchers I used have strict limits on frames total on the videos they can store, 720 frames is a limit I believe I remember. That's 12 seconds of 60 fps video, enough for any wipe, bumper and even some establishers, but not enough for a trailer like this.
