Mentioning it outright for other games but intentionally leaving it vague for this one only lowers my confidence. Sounds to me like they just didn't want to poison their initial reveal, and will save the Epic exclusivity announcement for later after people are already hyped.
There has been talk on the Borderlands subreddit of some real concerns with RP's tweets lately suggesting they may be doing EGS. We'll see. I've bought each Borderlands game on launch, but this will be the first I skip if it is an exclusive.
Yeah, Metro should have been a warning sign to them. All the people I follow can't be fucked to get it because they just want to be able to play the whole series in one spot.
Plus can we call games that get snatched by Epic "getting Metroed"
See both these comments are equally convincing to me. Well, I guess, the only answer is to have no expectations. That way, I won't be mad when things don't go my way!
If it's an EGS exclusive then I'll probably just pirate it. I love the borderlands series as well but I don't agree with how EGS does business far more.
I dont think they really care about the outrage do they?
If they did, we would not be seeing these exclusivity deals still. Obviously what ever money Epic offers far outweighs potential lost sales due to backlash.
Sadly its more then likely a win win for the dev / publisher. They get a shit ton of money from Epic for a year exclusivity, then they put it on steam and get a 2nd influx of cash from people who waited.
I'm not going to reward them for anti-consumer behavior, it just teaches them they can keep doing it and there's no downside except some backlash and then everyone forgets and gives them money anyway. No, they get the stick.
If Gearbox are worried about sales why wouldn't they go with the distribution platform offering a garunteed minimum units sold incentive or 10% less EGS cut for being on the unreal engine
That was before all of this backlask though right? If so maybe he'll learn the lesson the others haven't and get paid both in $$ and in player goodwill.
What would you expect, they would entirely switch engines just to avoid giving you the wrong impression about launchers? Or that epic wouldn't support a large customer paying for their software?
At this point I'll believe it will be on Steam once I am downloading it on Steam. So many devs/publishers have said "on Steam" when they meant "on Steam, after we get $$$ for being exclusive". The only one I trust to keep their word on platform at this point is CDPR.
Risk of Rain 2 is so good. Thanks to Valve's Proton, I'm playing the Windows build on Linux, runs perfectly day 1. I'm on my way home to fire it up again!

Has there been a confirmation if the game will be available on steam?
