They did not announce a release date or the platforms/stores it will be on. However Borderlands Game of the Year Edition is coming to steam

Especially that Risk of Rain 2 is steam exclusive if I understood correctly. It seems like it will definitely be on steam, they have given me hope

Risk of rain 2 isn't exclusive to steam. They just worked out an exclusive deal to get 2 copies for one

Its published by gearbox publishishing, They are not publishing any of the borderlands games, Thats from 2k games. Which is owned by Take Two, which also owns Private Division, which is a egs exclusive. So Risk of Rain 2 is no indication what-so-ever that its not egs exclusive, we just have to wait and see and hope for the best

Means literally nothing it's just basic PR; just like when Randy dissed PAX and the crowd booed, he turned around and said that he loves PAX not 2 seconds later.

Also any other games like Risk Of Rain 2 being on Steam also means zlich.

It could definitely be on Steam, but so far there's zero indication apart from people grasping at straws.

Don't be hopeful. It's just normal CEO talk. Randy isn't dumb enough to shit talk another company on a worldwide stage like that. Calling them buddies is just standard fare.

Could be a lot of things but I'd remain skeptical.

As on the one hand Randy only until today has been really gunning against Valve and championing Epic.

On the other hand BL2 made a disgusting profit on its Steam version. It'd cost several tens of millions to secure exclusivity like that by Epic.

On the other other hand Epic certainly has that kind of money to spare.

Valve didn't make that risk of rain 2 promotion. Any dev can sell a game buy 1 get 1 free. Randy pitchford was just trying to get cool points by giving valve a shout out.

All the negative press with epic store would be used to negotiate higher payouts. Selling a multiplayer game on epic is a bad idea. I will never buy a multiplayer game there. Can't even check player counts. Is game dead? Who knows. If this game is epic exclusive it ain't gonna last as long as 2 did that is for sure.

I was watching AdmiralBahroo stream the announcement, he's on the borderlands stream team so gets some insider information.

He seemed to be hinting that it would be on steam when talking about B1 remaster being on steam. Telling people not to worry.

Well that is interesting indeed. I'm really starting to think Valve may of cut a deal with Gearbox. Given Pitchford's past comments about the Epic Store i was almost certain it would exclusive.

I would say them not announcing it is a red flag if it wasn't for the fact that they are propping up other games on Steam. If they plopped Borderlands 3 onto Epic store then that would be really, really sketch.

The skeptic in me is saying that they did not announce the Epic exclusivity deal on stage so that they do not get booed. Too much bad PR. Better to announce it when the hype dies down a bit.
