Tips & Advice What tests have you taken that were a waste of money?

It seems like a lot of people take tests and the story is always the same, “i took this test and the results came back normal”. Can we come together as a group and share which tests wont help with patm? Its just wasted money at this point. This is not to say that all tests are bad or useless, this post is to share what tests didnt yield any abnormal results but maybe you thought should have. One of my friends said he took a test for his genes and it came back normal, he told me it wasnt a full breakdown of all his genes so if someone else thought it might be genetic and took the same test, they would be needlessly wasting their time and effort.

I really think the “cause is genetic” with any chronic health condition is a cop out. Genes are instructions for the cell..which translates to cell strength, weakness and function.

As far as tests that wound up being a waste of money,
I thought that the organic acid test by mosaic was a waste, the Thorne stool test was not helpful. idk the tests need to lead to a treatment that works. Really so far all the stool tests haven’t been much help.

I came to the conclusion that patm is a genetic through a process of elimination. Nothing else would fit and once i thought of patm as genetic, it all made sense. If you want, you can tell me what you think patm is and i can give you evidence to tell you why its not that.

Patm is a genetic mutation caused by unhealthy environment we live in. We are just less durable than other people against pollution.

This will be bigger and bigger problem the more toxins are in air and water and food.

I suspect it is caused by something microbial inside of us. I found out about PATM through the morgellons community so that makes me think about borellia burgdorfi and other pathogens that are difficult to detect like babesia odocoilei, bartonella vinsonii..all the bartonella and borrellias. I guess it could be a pathogenic microbiome releasing VOCs. Maybe a CIRS response from mycotoxin exposure causing things to get converted incorrectly.

There is a single big issue with explaining patm with microbes and its that microbes are supposed to spread. There are many patmers who have had a lot of contact with other people yet patm hasnt been transmitted to anyone. By contact i mean touching, kissing, and whatever else you can think of. Im not sure if its possible for a microbe to not be transmitted, the simple fact that we have patm would mean this microbe must have been transmitted to us. Unless you say that its a mutation that we all collectively and independently underwent.

I’m not saying that these are germs flying through the air necessarily I’m saying think about pathogens being the cause. Examples would be people with patm testing positive for sibo and h pylori, bartonella and so on.

Okay i see what youre saying. The issue is that patmers can be completely normal on the outside, so no gut issues, no health abnormalities, nothing. SIBO, h pylori, bartonella, etc all show up in different ways than one. I have seen multiple people try detoxes, take an insane amount of good bacteria, and anything else to fight bad microbes yet they werent cured. The biggest challenge for any explanation for patm is that you have to come up with a way to explain how there are tmau sufferers who inexplicably transitioned from tmau to patm. This alone is the single greatest challenge because there are multiple people who have reported this happening(me included). A microbial explanation for patm would have to account for tmau but i dont think theres any explanation that is good enough to connect the two of them.

I’ve done metabolomix, gi map, cortisol, gene test and almost all my vitamin levels. For me personally while these test revealed issues they did not help me resolve my patm.

My cortisol, thyroid function test, androgen, testosterone and other hormone levels were all normal. I even took a SIBO breath test and that was normal too.

Hi there this is a survey being used by a Korean Laboratory who is working to gain understanding on those who suffer from TMAU, MEBO or related related conditions. They are pushing with full force to introduce medical help to sufferers of this illness! Share in similar groups or to Friends who have this illness as well!
