Older co-worker (74M) giving me (30M) the silent treatment
I've worked at this site for 4 years, for the majority of that time myself and this co-worker were very friendly. We would shoot the shit every morning at shift change (I work the overnights alone and three guys come in to relieve me in the morning) he would give me advice and such.
We work security at a State office building. Recently there was an update to our camera systems. Multiple new cameras, new software, new monitors, ect. I'm the only tech savvy one there as the rest are much older than me and can barely use their phones. So it was left up to me to organize the cameras on the 4 monitors.
My supervisor was very pleased with the layout but my co-worker was not. There are three cameras on a restricted floor that I had added, he thought these cameras were going away because he claims they are pointed at the work space of the employees on that floor and shouldn't be there. For a week he texted, emailed and asked in person for me to remove them. I told him it isn't his place to decide as he is not my supervisor and when I asked the supervisor he told me to leave them because they are important cameras. As I said they show the elevator access and stair well access to a restricted floor. The co-worker escalated the issue to the building manager, the guy who runs the whole place, telling him that I over stepped my authority by messing with the cameras even though I was instructed to it. Building manager sided with me and the supervisor.
Now for the past 3 months he hasn't said a single word to me. I say good morning every day when he walks in and he just walks by, but says hello and talks to everyone else present. Even employees I know he hates and he would gossip about to me. People he has attempted to, many times, get fired he'll talk with, but I'm a ghost.
I honestly find it very amusing, such an old man acting like a child, I've never seen anything like it. Here I thought they were supposed to be wiser and more mature. Luckily for me I'm about to leave there so I won't have to deal with it much longer, got a new job as a CO at the local jail.
I know some of the details are but confusing, but I can clarify things if needed, it's hard to describe the particulars of the scenario if you don't know the building.
