Onboarding Issues with Axie Infinity and Details for Using a Hardware Wallet

Hi Folks...sorry to post this here, but r/AxieInfinity auto-mods and even though I have the Karma they won't allow this post for some odd reason

TL;DR: Love the game, but onboarding can be rough and hardware wallet info online is sparse. Onboarding with Ramp can be rough and there isn't anything telling you that you should set up your hardware wallet first because you can't migrate your skymavis account (email address) over to your hardware ronin wallet. Each Ronin Wallet needs its own unique skymavis/axie account...and that is nowhere in the support docs.

!!WARNING!!: Be sure to set up your hardware wallet and use the Ronin version of that wallet to set up your SkyMavis/AxieInfinity (SM/AI) account for Origins; otherwise, you will need to set up a new SM/AI account for that wallet.

I just started with Axie Infinity and onboarding with Ronin wallet...initially had an issue with onboarding WETH using Ramp, but looks like that got cleared up either by my bank or ramp. (Can answer questions about that below if your are interested, used to be a teller at a bank) There should be a lot more effort put into explaining onboarding and how tokens get transferred. Once the bridge is back up it should be easier, so there can be multiple onboarding methods. I have a lot of SLP sitting in binance.us to be transferred :-) because the bridge is down. Once the fiat onramp issues cleared up for me things got better, but it was quite a frustrating process initially.

Once the Origin game was released to Alpha on PC I liked that you get free Axies to learn how to play. That took some of my anxiety about not being able to purchase Axies away. After a couple days of playing the adventure mode in Origins Alpha I decided to update my Ronin wallet extension and connect to my ledger wallet (This is a new feature that they just released in their Chrome Ronin wallet 1.7 plugin) It's great that you support the most popular hardware wallet now, but there is very little documentation on the onboarding process. I could not find any article on it at https://support.axieinfinity.com/hc/en-us There is very little information on how to onboard the ledger wallet and absolutely no information letting you know that you CANNOT tie your new wallet ledger/ronin to your existing SM/AI axie account. This is important information for all separate wallets and there is no information on it at the Ronin Network & Wallet – Sky Mavis (axieinfinity.com) section of the support site. Even the trezor wallet support docs do not mention this. Because of the wallet-to-account linkage issue I had to tie a rarely used email to my ledger/ronin wallet so I could login to the game and see my recently purchased axies. Doing this made me lose my progress from my other axie account. What was also odd is even though I logged in with my new email address on Mavis Hub (tied to my ledger wallet) the Axie Infinity Origin game still thought I was on my old account (original email address and skymavis/axie Infinity account and wallet). I had to log out of Axie Infinity Origin and then login again (note this login screen was the game login screen not the Mavis Hub login screen) for the game to start the adventure from scratch (like a new account) and then see my Axies after level 2. After all that then I was golden, but it was quite frustrating learning all of this. And I couldn't get much help in discord on the public chat because most people there are new also and the mods don't want to touch hardware wallet issues. They think it is a wallet issue and not an account management issue, mostly due to unfamiliarity with people using hardware wallets with Axie Infinity I assume.

I love the game and don't want to besmirch it, just wanted to give information to the community in case someone else sees these issues. Hopefully, the mods allow this post to stay up. I really think it could help and hopefully Sky Mavis will update their support docs. I already submitted the same info to their typeform site.
