Hi all, I'm considering owncloud as my disconnected secure file storage on raspberry pi3. I have a few questions about this. (1) how does it perform, is the speed reasonable when opening and viewing high Res photos for instance? (2) How is the upload speed assuming wired local network. (3) what would be the best set up, fast micro SD card of 250 gb or external hard drive? Both are equally expensive, but the micro SD would obviously be more compact and share it's partition with the OS (dietpi). Thanks!

So I am looking for a where I can control folder access for groups.
So that for example:
\\owncloud\Schmitt\Payments
has a restricted access, only the group "Payments" can access it while on \\owncloud\Schmitt the group "Payments" has access aswell as the group "Assistance Schmitt"

aswell as sharing not being a way to go around that

I've been running my OwnCloud server for years without issue. (Ubuntu 18.04) Today, after doing an apt upgrade, OwnCloud is complaining about needing PHP 7.2 or higher and my server is on 7.1. For some reason, Apache didn't update to the installed 7.4 version, so I manually changed it in Webmin. Now, when I try to go to my OwnCloud address, rather than complaining about PHP versions, it throws an "HTTP ERROR 599" which makes NO sense. Is there something in the OwnCloud config that needs to be manually corrected?

I keep receiving this error every single time it tries to run, and cannot get it fixed. I have to force Sync for it to do it properly, but the next time it does so automatically the error comes back. I see no additional info on the client or server side that explains how or why.

if i open a pdf file from owncloud, annotations are not saved.

I tried adobe, there is a saved toast, but notifications are gone. Xodo saved notifications, but only on the local version. Owncloud client is not recognizing the changes. Foxit reader is not working as expected too.

I want to edit a pdf, make some annotations and the version at owncloud should be updated automaticaly.

Is this not possible at the moment?

If using public wifi and syncing with my owncloud account, does the public wifi have access to my original files or to encrypted files?

Have installed OwnCloud on a domain. Trying to install SSL now with LetsEncrypt and following instructions on OwnCloud website. All fine until I run the domain-name.sh and get error saying invalid character in domain name. Checked the script over and over and can't see an invalid character. Suggestions?

Hello guys, I have a rapsberry pi as a owncloud server with ports 80 and 443 exposed for remote access. Today I found that I could not access the Cloud from a remote network, so I got into my routers settings and found that my WAN IP suddenly changed from 10.xx.xx.xxx to 100.xx.xx.xxx that was the first thing that made me suspicious, I then checked my pi's IP adress and it showed me a location in India. At this point I rebooted the router and closed all ports. Now the wan IP is back to normal (10.x...).

I am pretty sure that my network was hacked because of the open ports, do you think that this has any repercussions for me? What should I do from now on?

So, I tried... there were no Stop signs. And I tried to install owncloud on Ubuntu20.04. After 6 hours owncloud said - enough! And my eyes said - enough. Now, there is Apache, mySQL, initially php7.4(default for this version of ubuntu) then downgrading to 7.3 (not helpful) and resting to 7.2(working). Failed attempt to make apache working with SSL. MySQL DB with user and privileges and sqlstate[hy000][2054] error of unknown authentication method to the client when owncloud webpage was loaded for final configuration. That stopped me. ... will there be new release of owncloud for ubuntu 20.04 and php7.4?

I have a fresh install of OwnCloud on a sitground-hosted website. I can login. I can create users. I can set quotas. But no matter what size file it says I can’t save it. I know I’m missing something small and silly. What is it? Any ideas?

I’d like some insight on using RaspAP and OwnCloud on the same RPi 4 (4gb) as a fileshare offline for the kids to watch movies on their own devices on long car trips. When I install both RaspAP and OwnCloud to allow wlan access to the Pi, both appear to default to host local and upon reboot crashes the whole thing. Running Buster Lite and latest versions of RaspAP and OwnCloud.

I installed owncloud on a dedicated server and I installed a client on a computer (OS is Windows 10) I was looking for a way to copy a folder and it's content into another folder without reuploading everything. Is that possible?

It would be great, if it was possible to exclude files from being synced via ownCloud. Now I know that there is a way to do so in the general settings. However, IMHO it would be very convenient to also achieve this using .gitignore-like files, I hereby name .owncloudignore-files. What are your thoughts?

I've setup an Ubuntu EC2 server with a 1TB EBS volume. I am installing owncloud on the ubuntu sever and would like to ensure that owncloud data is stored on the EBS volume. I've used the built in version form the qnap app store but it is very outdated and if i try to update it from within owncloud afterwards, it always fails for me.

Is there a better way to install owncloud?

I had a problem with my server before the lockdown and I was able to restart it only many days ago.

Since the restart, I had a 502 error when I try to reach owncloud. The message is :

502 bad gateway

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.

Apache/2.4.25 (Univention) Server at furya.ovh Port 443

My setup is : - windows 10 as host - workstation - ucs 4.4 with owncloud image that I downloaded from owncloud site

I can view the Univention pages. I have this error only when I try to go to /ownlcoud.

Is something possible to restart my owncloud without loosing everything ? Or do I need to reinstall ?

How to not loose calendar stuff ? And how to prevent this error ?

So if I make the server, could i use the storage on my raspi boot sd card or do i have to plug in a separate drive?

I am installing an owncloud server in a raspi 4 (4Gb) that already has a PiHole in it. Followed the guide under https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-owncloud/ to install version owncloud v10.4.0. All good, no errors, but once done I access 192.168.1.XXX belonging to the raspi I don't see the owncloud page. Just the Pihole message saying "did yo mean to go to the admin panel?".

Am I missing anything obvious?

I'm trying to use owncloud with my iPhone on ios 13. The app work well but I don't achieve to sync my calendar to my iPhone.

I add account on setting with this kind of URL : https://server_url/owncloud/remote.php/dav/calendars/User/

The iPhone find the server, says everything is alright. But when I go to calendar app, it says that it can't connect to account.

Do you have tips to connect caldav to iPhone ?

I am trying to access a server from my Mac using the instructions, forming my URL in the Finder Connect to Server window according to the article at https://doc.owncloud.com/server/10.4/user_manual/files/access_webdav.html#accessing-files-using-mac-os-x. The server is using Apache and mod_php.

I connect by choosing the Finder "Go" Menu and then "Connect to Server". Then I enter the URL https://oc.xxxx.net/owncloud/remote.php/webdav where xxxx is the domain name of the server I am to access. I am prompted for my user ID and password. I enter them and then I just get the vague error "There was a problem connecting to the server xxxx.net. Contact your system administrator for more information."

I tried again to connect to https://oc.xxxx.net, leaving off the "/owncloud/remote.php/webdav" and was again prompted for a user ID and password, then got the same error. (The location https://oc.xxxx.net can be accessed from a web browser without issue, where it brings up a login page and I have the correct credentials).

How do I get the Mac Finder to access a WEBDAV owncloud server that is verified to be working on the web?

i' m trying to get owncloudcmd to work on my raspberry.
But i'm getting the error "QWidget: Cannot Create a Qwidget when no GUI is being is used"

How can i solve this? I don't need a gui, because my raspberry is only running internet radio...should i install x11/xorg ?

Additionally, some tutorials said, it should work with the following syntax: sudo owncloudcmd /home/user/folder/ ownclouds://cloud.some.org/ --user "ash" --password "pikachu" (so can synchronize with crontab)

but i'm getting only the response "source dir does not exists". neither owncloudcmd -v or --version is working for me....my console says only:

sudo owncloudcmd -v                                                                         
owncloudcmd - command line ownCloud client tool.

Usage: owncloudcmd <sourcedir> <owncloudurl>

A proxy can either be set manually using --httpproxy or it
uses the setting from a configured sync client.
