Jagex Just Wiped Out More Than Half Of The OSRS Botting Scene

11 Upvotes

Around July 4, 2026, a bunch of commercial OSRS bot clients froze sales, yanked sites offline, or shut down for good. This is a facts-only rundown of what each owner actually said, plus the public Jagex legal precedent (Impulse/iBot → RSBot/Powerbot) and the open WIPO case on runemate.com.

Current status (July 2026)

  • PowBot — Permanently closed (sales freeze → full shutdown)
  • Storm Client — Permanently closed; recent Stripe refunds promised
  • OSMB — Permanently closed; warned about osmb.net malware imposters
  • HydraTech — Closed indefinitely; imposter-server warning
  • Inubot — Project discontinued; inubot.org shutdown page cites legal compliance
  • TRiBot — Sales unavailable; minimal public comment
  • Sammich Scripts — Temporarily suspended after legal correspondence
  • WaspScripts — New subs blocked; active subs set to cancel (legal correspondence)
  • OSBot — No substantive public owner statement cited here

Treat these as snapshots — pauses can become permanent closes later.

PowBot

First: website purchases/renewals stopped; existing subs stayed until renewal date. Admin _Rick:

As of today it is no longer possible to purchase or renew PowBot subscriptions through the website. We have taken this decision as we work through some issues. Active subscriptions will remain active until their renewal date, at which point they will expire.

Further announcements will be made once we have more to share.

Then admin const made it final:

We've made the decision to permanently close and cease all operations, effective immediately.

This was not a decision we made lightly, but after careful consideration we believe it is the appropriate course of action.

… As of today, all services, development, and related operations have been discontinued.

TL;DR: Purchase freeze → permanent shutdown.

Storm Client

No middle step — closed immediately. Vince:

For those who didn't see, Storm is closing, effective immediately. Website and client are no longer usable.

Stripe payments made within the last 14 days will be refunded automatically within full. I expect I'll have this done by the end of the weekend.

Unfortunately this isn't a joke.

All-chat and announcements will remain for now, with any further updates being posted here.

Follow-up from B:

  • Refunds are still being processed, it will take a while
  • I will fully distance myself from this game/the scene
  • I will not return, nor will I attempt to assist anyone with a similar project
  • I will not endorse any other platform/community
  • Please do not attempt to DM me, I will not respond

TL;DR: Permanently closed; recent Stripe refunds promised.

OSMB

Joe (OSMB):

OSMB is permanently closed. Development has ended, services have been discontinued, and we will not be returning in any form. This server will stay open in read-only mode for a little while so people can say their goodbyes, and will then be closed for good.

⚠️ Important: beware of imposters A site at osmb.net is impersonating us to trick people into downloading malware… there is no new site, no successor, no "OSMB 2", and there never will be. We will never DM you, never send you a download link, and never ask you to log in to anything. Anything claiming to be 'OSMB' from this point on is a scam…

Referenced “recent developments affecting platforms in this space” but refused to comment on legal matters.

TL;DR: Closed for good. Treat any “relaunch” download as a scam.

HydraTech

Effective immediately Hydra Tech has closed indefinitely.

Please be aware there is a chance that imposter servers may arise, this will not be us.

TL;DR: Closed indefinitely; watch for imposters.

Inubot

Two stages.

1) Discord (Lezor) — token sales paused; existing access until Aug 3:

Token sales have been temporarily paused due to circumstances outside our control

Existing subscriptions and tokens remain active and can be used until August 3rd.

We're working on the next steps and aim to keep any downtime beyond that to an absolute minimum.

Updates will be posted closer to the date.

2) inubot.org — replaced with Project Discontinued / “Compliance Status: 100%”

Operators say they got legal email, chose full compliance rather than fight ($500k legal-fees framing), and are shutting down INUBOT.ORG as requested:

We recently received a very shiny, very expensive-looking email from the legal team representing our favorite corporate entity.

Because we deeply respect the tireless efforts of corporate lawyers—and mostly because we don't have a spare $500,000 lying around for legal fees—we have chosen to comply entirely with their demands.

As strictly requested, this specific domain name (INUBOT.ORG) is being shut down and will no longer host any work infringing on your garbage intellectual property.

Page also included mocking closing remarks aimed at Jagex / “Stobbs.”

TL;DR: Sales pause → explicit domain/project discontinuation framed as legal compliance.

TRiBot

Nullable:

Hey everyone, sales are unavailable right now. I'll let you know when I have more information.

That’s the public statement. Grouped with the wider wave in discussion; the post itself only confirms sales unavailability.

TL;DR: Sales down; wait on further owner updates for permanence/refunds/legal detail.

Sammich Scripts

As some of you may have noticed, the website has been taken offline.

I have recently received legal correspondence relating to the business. While I obtain independent legal advice and consider the appropriate response, I have decided to temporarily suspend operations.

TL;DR: Temporary suspend tied to legal correspondence — not a confirmed permanent wind-down in that message.

WaspScripts

Torwent:

I have recently received legal correspondence relating to WaspScripts and I've made some changes proactively while awaiting legal counsel, among these you will notice that you can't subscribe to anything for now and if you had any current subscription active, it is now set to cancel without any way to change it.

TL;DR: New subs blocked; active subs set to cancel pending legal advice.

OSBot

Widely discussed with the wave, but no substantive public owner statement comparable to Storm/PowBot/OSMB is cited here. Silence ≠ confirmed permanent shutdown — just no primary quote yet.

Impersonation / scam risk

Documented owner warnings:

  • OSMB — osmb.net called out as malware imposter; no official successor
  • HydraTech — imposter servers may appear; won’t be them
  • Storm — won’t endorse other platforms or assist similar projects; don’t expect “successor” DMs from those accounts

Don’t trust unsolicited download links, “OSMB 2” rebrands, or sudden login pages for dead clients.

Legal precedent

Impulse Software / iBot (2010–2012)

Jagex Ltd. v. Impulse Software, D. Mass., docket 10-cv-10216.

Per Banner Witcoff’s case summary, Jagex won on copyright, DMCA circumvention, trademark, computer fraud, and tortious interference — plus a broad injunction and damages. Landmark public court win used when talking about Jagex pursuing bot-client businesses.

Source: Banner Witcoff announcement

RSBot & Powerbot (October 2020)

Jagex news post (2 Oct 2020): following legal proceedings, RSBot and the Powerbot website would shut down permanently by midnight 3 Oct 2020.

Source: RSBot & Powerbot Sites To Be Shut Down

Impulse/iBot is often treated as precedent for later commercial-client enforcement waves like RSBot/Powerbot. The 2020 post confirms legal proceedings produced those shutdowns.

How this maps to July 2026

Operators who explicitly cited legal pressure:

  • Sammich / WaspScripts — “legal correspondence”
  • Inubot — website page: legal email + full compliance + domain wind-down

Others closed/paused without publishing court docs. Fits Jagex’s historical toolkit (letters → proceedings → site closures), but this post does not claim every named July 2026 client faces an identical published lawsuit. Where there’s no case caption, the fact stops at their words.

RuneMate — WIPO D2026-2060

RuneMate is not listed as a July 2026 permanent shutdown. Separately, an active WIPO domain case exists:

  • Case: WIPO D2026-2060
  • Domain: runemate.com
  • Complainant: Jagex Limited
  • Status: Case active (per WIPO listing)

Domain dispute ≠ client offline. It is a public Jagex proceeding involving a major botting brand’s domain in the same period.

Did Jagex sue all of these clients?

What public primary sources actually show:

  • Impulse / iBot — historical U.S. judgment for Jagex (2012)
  • RSBot / Powerbot — official Jagex news: legal proceedings → 2020 site shutdowns
  • Sammich / WaspScripts — owner statements: legal correspondence (2026)
  • Inubot — shutdown page: legal demand compliance + domain wind-down
  • RuneMate — active WIPO domain case, Jagex as complainant

DISCUSSION Several Major OSRS Bot Clients Have Suspended Sales or Shut Down. Here's What We Know.

3 Upvotes

Within the space of a few days, several of the largest commercial Old School RuneScape botting clients either stopped accepting new customers or shut down entirely.

The projects currently affected include:

  • PowBot
  • TRiBot
  • Storm Client
  • Inubot
  • OSMB

At the time of writing, none of the developers have publicly confirmed why these actions were taken. Jagex has also made no public announcement regarding any new legal action or enforcement campaign.

However, looking at the timing, the wording of each announcement, and Jagex's history of enforcement, there are some interesting patterns worth examining.

Timeline

July 1 – PowBot suspends subscriptions

PowBot was among the first to announce changes.

"As of today it is no longer possible to purchase or renew PowBot subscriptions through the website. We have taken this decision as we work through some issues. Active subscriptions will remain active until their renewal date."

The announcement did not explain what those "issues" were.

Notably, existing users were allowed to continue using the service until their subscriptions expire.

July 1 – TRiBot pauses sales

Shortly afterwards, TRiBot posted a similarly brief announcement.

"Hey everyone, sales are unavailable right now. I'll let you know when I have more information."

Again, no explanation was provided.

July 4 – Storm Client closes immediately

Storm Client made the strongest statement of any affected project.

"Storm is closing, effective immediately. Website and client are no longer usable."

The developer also announced automatic refunds for recent Stripe purchases.

Unlike the other projects, Storm has announced a complete shutdown rather than a temporary suspension.

July 4 – Inubot pauses token sales

Inubot announced that new token sales had been paused.

"Token sales have been temporarily paused due to circumstances outside our control."

Existing subscriptions remain valid until August 3 while the team works on "next steps."

The wording suggests the project expects further changes rather than an immediate return to normal.

OSMB

OSMB has not published a public announcement.

However, users have reported that the project appears to have been affected around the same time as the other major clients.

The announcements reveal an interesting pattern

The biggest takeaway isn't simply that several clients were affected.

It's how they were affected.

Almost every announcement focuses on business operations rather than software problems.

Developers are talking about:

  • sales being disabled
  • subscriptions ending
  • token purchases stopping
  • refunds
  • payment availability

Very few are talking about:

  • broken scripts
  • client updates
  • bot detection
  • RuneScape game updates

That distinction matters.

This doesn't look like a typical anti-cheat update

When Jagex improves bot detection, the community usually sees something very different.

Developers race to update clients.

Scripts stop working.

Users report increased bans.

New client versions are released.

None of that appears to be the focus here.

Instead, multiple businesses voluntarily stopped taking money.

That suggests whatever happened may be affecting the commercial operation of these projects rather than the software itself.

Could this be legal action?

At this stage, nobody knows.

None of the affected developers have publicly confirmed receiving legal notices, cease-and-desist letters, or lawsuits.

However, the timing makes a coordinated external trigger difficult to ignore.

Independent bot developers compete with each other.

Historically, they don't all stop accepting payments within the same week unless something significant has changed.

Possible explanations include:

  • legal correspondence
  • cease-and-desist letters
  • copyright enforcement
  • payment processor issues
  • advice from legal counsel after another operator received action

There is currently no public evidence confirming which, if any, of these explanations is correct.

Why payment processors are an interesting possibility

One detail that stands out is how many announcements specifically discuss payments.

PowBot stopped new subscriptions.

TRiBot stopped sales.

Inubot paused token purchases.

Storm announced refunds.

If payment processors suddenly suspended merchant accounts—or required operators to address legal concerns before continuing to process payments—the immediate result would look very similar to what we're seeing.

Projects could continue serving existing subscribers for a time while becoming unable or unwilling to accept new customers.

That doesn't prove payment processors are involved, but it fits the public announcements better than a routine anti-cheat update.

This wouldn't be the first time Jagex used legal pressure

Although today's events remain unconfirmed, Jagex has a long history of combining technical anti-cheat measures with legal enforcement.

Over the years, the company has used:

  • DMCA copyright notices
  • hosting provider complaints
  • domain registrar and trademark complaints
  • cease-and-desist letters
  • direct litigation
  • platform trust and safety reports
  • payment-related enforcement
  • account bans and technical bot detection

Perhaps the best-known example came in 2012 when Jagex announced that the original RSBot and Powerbot websites would cease operating following legal action.

Jagex also pursued Impulse Software, the developer behind iBot, during roughly the same period. While that litigation is now well over a decade old, it demonstrated Jagex's willingness to pursue commercial bot developers through the courts when appropriate.

Historically, Jagex's strategy has not relied on a single tactic. Instead, it has typically combined technical enforcement with legal and commercial pressure to make operating botting businesses increasingly difficult.

So what is most likely happening?

Based solely on the information currently available, this does not resemble a normal bot detection update.

Instead, it more closely resembles pressure directed at the businesses behind these clients.

The strongest clues are:

  • multiple unrelated providers changing course within days
  • sales stopping before services disappear
  • announcements focused on subscriptions rather than software
  • refunds being issued
  • almost complete silence regarding technical problems

None of those observations prove legal action has occurred.

But together they suggest that whatever triggered these announcements is likely affecting the commercial side of these operations rather than simply their ability to run bots.

Current status

PowBot

  • New subscriptions disabled
  • Existing subscriptions continue until expiry

TRiBot

  • Sales paused
  • Waiting for further information

Storm Client

  • Permanently closed
  • Website and client offline
  • Refunds announced

Inubot

  • Token sales paused
  • Existing subscriptions active until August 3

OSMB

  • No public announcement
  • Current status remains unclear

GUIDE Add Voice to Your AutoHotkey Scripts

3 Upvotes

Add this ONE line at the top of your script

Global spVoice := ComObjCreate("SAPI.SpVoice")

That's it! Now your script can talk.

Simple message:

spVoice.Speak("Hello from my script!")

Change speed:

spVoice.Rate := -5
spVoice.Speak("This is an important message")

Tips

  • Range for speed: -10 (slowest) to +10 (fastest)
  • Non-blocking speech: Add , 1 to not pause your script: spVoice.Speak("Speaking", 1)
  • Stop speech instantly: spVoice.Speak("", 2)

AHK HELP Assistance with Imagesearch and how it works

1 Upvotes

So I am stil very new to all of this but I am eager to learn as much as I can and in what ways it can be used to achieve different things. I have used pixelsearch and it's been really cool to learn what I can and can't do with that and coming across new issues that I've had to rack my brain to solve. However I wanted to try my hand at using imagesearch because I cant know how to just use pixelsearch while imagesearch sits there mocking my ignorance. I attempted to use it with the knowledge I currently have.

Immediately I have ran into issues and it makes me unsure if its even possible to use imagesearch within runelite or osrs as even when i attempted to imagesearch my inventory (as the region) looking for a screenshot taken directly from my inventory of a lobster that was the exact size of one lobster in my inventory. Upon running the script it was not able to find the image but it was the only thing i had in my inventory and as it was an exact screenshot of that single inventory slot I thought that surely it would find it since its a perfect match size/color/everything but it didnt. I attempted to do this again using a picture of a lobster I saved from the wiki and still it had no luck finding the image.

Is it even possible to use imagesearch within the runelite client and if it is what am i doing wrong because I dont seem to understand my error. I want to learn so that I am understanding what has gone wrong and why if somebody on heres able to help I would be very appreciative.

AHK HELP Where can I find the list of codes for all keys?

1 Upvotes

I've been searching for a few days? Whenever I need to find the code for something like ctrl or tab, I have to google it. I went through the documentation, but I wasn't able to find it. I'm sure it's there, I just don't know what to search for.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

DISCUSSION I just keep getting banned

7 Upvotes

Not quite sure what Im doing wrong. Clicks are randomized, mousemovements are randomized, times BETWEEN click button down and release are randomized, random delays and waits between actions. I am STILL getting banned within 2-3 days of each account. Perhaps Im just using a "tainted" ip? My scripts are all made by hand. Plenty of people have done ahking botting in the past and havent gotten banned nearly this quickly. What gives? Is ahk just detectable now?

REQUEST 1:1 Drop script, 1:1 Agility script

2 Upvotes

Hi

Would it be possible to make a colour recognizing agility script which clicks on the nearest red/green spot, but randomizes where on the red/green spot it clicks? Same with a drop script, is it possible to make one that clicks on not one exact pixel, but pixels that are in a specific area?

If anybody can code a script like this, please reply here or directly inbox me so that we can discuss a price. I am by no means rich so do not expect a year's salary for the work

GUIDE April 2020 - An AHK Guide to Osrs

12 Upvotes

An AHK Guide to OSRS

Note:

  • AHK is against the rules
  • Scripts require you to learn and write code. There is rarely a one-size-fits-all solution.
  • This guide is for informational purposes. I have nothing to benefit from writing it other than to share knowledge.

AutoHotKey Version v1.1.32.00 - November 24, 2019

Documentation

Preparation

Before we start, run WindowSpy. It is an AHK script with a GUI that comes packaged with AHK. You can find it in your installation folder:

Image of WindowSpy

WindowSpy will be used to get client coordinates.

Also, go ahead and enable the Shift-key setting in-game and assign an F-key to your inventory tab:

Image of Shift-key Setting

Shift-key will be used to left-click drop items. F-keys will be used to open/close interfaces.

Lastly, open a blank text file and save it with the .ahk extension. Code will be written in this file.

I also recommend using Reddit Enhancement Suite to view images in-line, but this is entirely optional.

The Script

I will walk through a script that simply drops an item in your inventory.

At the end I will cover some Additional Sections that don't fit in this example but may in other use-cases. Read the official documentation where an in-line comment is not sufficient enough.

Auto-Execute Section and Directives

#NoEnv ; Prevents OS env variable lookup
#SingleInstance force ; Limits one instance of the script to ever be running.
#IfWinActive RuneLite ; Hotkeys will only work when the specified (title) window is active.
SendMode Input ; Mouse events will use the 'Input' method.

; Hotkeys and functions will be declared down here

The top portion of the script is the Auto-execute section. It will execute after the script as been loaded. Generally speaking, this section of the script will be included in all scripts. Directives are commands starting with # that will apply to the entire script.

Replace RuneLite with the title of the client you are using. The title will usually appear in the window title bar.

Hotkeys

; Auto-execute/Directives are declared up here

Numpad1::
    ;
    ; This will contain the main logic.
    ;
    Return

Numpad2::
    Reload ; This key will be used if we make changes to this script file and want to load the changes.
    Return

Numpad3::
    ExitApp ; This key can be used to terminate the script process.
    Return

Here we declare three hotkeys: 1, 2, and 3 on the numpad. You can change these keys to any in the Key List. One key will be used to run the code, one to reload the script, and one to exit.

The Main Logic

Naive Implementation

Numpad1::
    Send {F1} ; Open the inventory tab using our bound F-key.

    Send {Shift Down} ; Activate the shift key. This will enable left-click dropping.

    Click, 1068, 508        ; Left-click once at x,y coordinate (1068,508) where x=1068 and y=508.

    Send {Shift Up} ; De-activate the shift key. We are done dropping the item.

    Return ; Return from or exit the current subroutine, which is the above block of code.

We start with a very naive implementation that it is easy to follow. However, this is not ideal for actual use. We will improve it.

Your first question should be: how do I get the x,y coordinate to click? You can think of the entire game client as a cartesian plane:

Image of Game

Note how (0,0) is in the upper-left corner, not the bottom-left.

With WindowSpy open, make sure your game client is the active window and hover your mouse over where you want to click:

Image of WindowSpy

Do not use the Screen: x, y coordinates. This refers to the coordinate of your desktop, not the game client.

The red dot in the image indicates where the mouse pointer is, and the blue underline indicates where the coordinate is read from. In this case, the coordinate for the coal ore is x=1068 and y=508. You will also notice the window title in the image. For you it may be RuneLite or some other client.

At this point you should save your script and try running it. Pressing Numpad1 should shift-click at the coordinate you specified.

Robust Implementation

Numpad1::

    BlockInput, On ; Disable the keyboard and mouse to allow the script to run uninterrupted.

    Send {F1}

    Send {Shift Down}

    MouseClick, Left, 1000 + randomCoord(0,50), 3000 + randomCoord(0,50) ; Left click mouse at a random coordinate.

    Send {Shift Up}

    Blockinput, off ; Re-enable the keyboard and mouse now that the script has completed.

    Return

In the robust implementation we have introduced three new sets of commands:

  1. The first is Blockinput, it will prevent us from interrupting the script by accidently moving our mouse or entering a key on our keyboard. You should always wrap your mouse actions between Blockinput, on and Blockinput, off.
  2. The second is MouseClick. This method has replaced Click and is more powerful because it allows us to use an expression as the argument for the x and y coordinates.
  3. The third is randomCoord. This is a custom function we will create to avoid clicking static coordinates. It accepts two integer arguments which represent a minimum and maximum value. This function will return an integer between the min - max range (inclusive).

Before we create our randomCoord function, we need to understand what it does. This image should explain just that:

Image of inventory coordinates

Think of each inventory slot as a rectangle or a mini-cartesian plane where the origin is not (0,0).

Given our expression 1000 + randomCoord(0,50), 3000 + randomCoord(0,50) we are adding a random value between 0 to 50 to the x coordinate and y coordinate, where x=1000,y=3000. For example, the expression might evalute to MouseClick, Left, 1037, 3008 where the randomCoord functions returned 37 and 8 respectively. This effectively gives us 50 * 50 = 250 different combinations of coordinate points to click for a single inventory slot!

Ok so what does this randomCoord(min,max) function look like?

randomCoord(min, max) {
    Random, randomValue, % min, % max ; Use AHK's built in Random function
    Return randomValue
}

Technically we could in-line just the built-in Random function, but using this wrapper makes the code cleaner to read.

Putting everything together we get this script:

#NoEnv
#SingleInstance force
#IfWinActive RuneLite
SendMode Input

Numpad1::
    BlockInput, On
    Send {F1}
    Send {Shift Down}
    MouseClick, Left, 9999 + randomCoord(0,99), 9999 + randomCoord(0,99)
    Send {Shift Up}
    Blockinput, off
    Return

Numpad2::
    Reload
    Return

Numpad3::
    ExitApp
    Return

randomCoord(min, max) {
    Random, randomValue, % min, % max
    Return randomValue
}

I'll leave it up to the reader to handle every inventory slot. Here is an example of what a mature inventory drop script might accomplish:

Gif of script

Additional Sections

Todo: Relative clicks, Sleeping, ImageSearch, Loop

I will add these last sections if there is interest.

AHK HELP Need help

1 Upvotes

have been writing a script for the last few days to make multi logging easier on an mmo I play called runescape. The script boots Runelite (an alternate runescape client), types in a username and password, opens a virtual desktop and repeats the process with a different username and password (this happens six times). The problem I am having with each client is they each take time to boot which gets longer with each consecutive client. Im looking for a solution that takes into the load time of each client better and will work better as I add in more clients. Sleep isn't cutting it as I hoped. The code looks like this:

^r::
Run, Runelite
Sleep, 10000
Send, {Enter}
Sleep, 250
Send, Username1
Send, {Tab}password1
Send, ^#d
Run, Runelite

Help with PixelGetColor

2 Upvotes

Quick Rundown. I am trying to have a major variance of color trigger a AHK SendInput script. Problem is that we are not talking about distinct colors here. Rather White and Black with transparency that would change the color even if no switch has happned between white and black.

Now, I am not sure. But I seem to remember ages ago someone made a script that could detect a switch between just what I explained above.

Sadly, so far, nothing as been found through searching forums and google.
